Sergeant York should not ever appear in the same line or be spoken in the same breath with that muzzie-lovin traitor.

A big part of the story is Sgt. York’s officers in training camp were fine Christian men.

I read that in WWII the US had something like 17,000 men desert, most not from the battlefield but before they ever got there. All but one were given a dishonorable discharge.

Don't be discouraged. After my spouse was diagnosed with a very serious illness recently, people from my neighborhood to Afghanistan notified us of their concern and offered their prayers. I would never, never have guessed that most of them had ever darkened the doors of a church, much less actually prayed. Housekeepers, doctors, maintenance staff, reporters, teachers, lawyers, landscapers, government/military contractors, and people we don't even know leapt to support us. Republicans, Democrats — even one friend who is so liberal we were taken aback when he told us that he and all his friends were praying for us.
The bad luck of illness has, in some respects, been a real blessing. We found out that Sgt. York's and Ronald Reagan's America is still out there. Maybe The Sleeping Giant is beginning to stir and throw off the covers.

I just watched Sgt. York again over the Memorial Day weekend. Great story and good movie.
