Bergdahl and Pentagon loyalty: a disturbing connection
Allen West ^ | June 5, 2014 | Allen West

While many focus their disgust for the federal government towards the occupants housed in the IRS, DoJ, VA, and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, this latest deserter-for-Taliban trade puts the spotlight on another particular building.

...

It was the late Army Colonel David Hackworth who bestowed the title of “perfumed princes” on senior military leaders who stood not for the men and women in uniform but rather for their own career advancement. As we live through the decimation of our armed forces it’s difficult to say Vaughn doesn’t have a point.

Vaughn believes “There is no way that the White House could have pulled off this “wag the dog” stunt without considerable acquiescence from the highest levels of our military leadership. Those perfumed princes, led by their secretary of defense, have made themselves complicit in the crime by carrying out an order that they all knew to be unlawful.”

...

I cannot tell you how many times I am asked whether or not our own U.S. military would take up arms and fire upon American citizens. I know my brothers and sisters still in uniform, and my answer is no. I know the commitment they have to their oath of service to the U.S. Constitution.

However, I cannot speak confidently as to those whose appointment is political. Are those strong words? Yes, but as a retired Army officer I have to ask, when will they stand up to the tyrant named Barack Hussein Obama and remember their oath to the Constitution — not to a person?

The Joint Chiefs should have resigned en masse years ago. They are cowards and they have broken their oaths.

They are politicals. They are dishonest to their oaths and to their troops.

I can see it now at the next Democrat convention - John Kerry and Bowe Bergdahl standing with raised hands on the stage, then saluting and saying, “Reporting and ready for duty!”.

The collective vomiting would be deafening.

That Gen. West even has to qualify this statement in the following line is one of the saddest things I have ever had to read and accept.

That the people I fought along side for many years, occasionally fought with during the odd wild night of down time in local bars (for some reason the motor pools really liked a good ruck), who covered my a$$ and who gave me a quick nod and a smile when I covered theirs are lead by chair warmers who a damned General can’t trust to keep their oath is beyond saddening. It is frightening.

Anyway, this is as good a place to say it as any. It is D-day. Thank you, guys. Thank you also to the ones who stayed home, dreading the “regret” letter yet stepping up to keep things going anyway.

*Salute*

Once you start getting north of Major (or Lt. Cmdr) it starts to get all political.

With all due respect to Hackworth and West, they are out of date.

Today’s military is not the one they served in.

Today’s military is soft, filled with liberals hoping to destroy it from within....just like they did with the Catholic Church and the GOP.

Today’s military is full of gangs that originated in our liberal inner cities....under the full control and permission of the liberal politicians.

Are there good men who still serve in our military? Of course...I would even say they may be the majority.

But the transformation has begun and is now unstoppable.

Careerism is a big problem in today’s military.
