Threatened Republican Impeachment of Obama a Useless Joke

Given that five violent Taliban terrorists in the Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl tradeoff are now on the loose, (being in Qatar is on the loose), it’s got to be the biggest joke of all time that Republican lawmakers would call for President Barack Obama’s impeachment—”if he released more prisoners from Guantanamo Bay”.

Obama knows all about crying wolf and even includes it as one of the ploys from his own capacious political trick bag.

With meek and mewling little voices, senators like South Carolina’s Lindsey Graham and House Speaker John Boehner, have been crying wolf about Obama all along.

They never do anything about Obama, only, from time to time, make like they’re going to

Your point is well taken.

I suppose the reason the Republicans are so timorous is that they understand that the Democrats and the media will easily pick off a few Republicans causing every effort to impeach Obama, or shut down the government, or what have you, to fail. Since Rino Republicans are essentially only careerists, they have a terror of being isolated and abandoned.

Until the Republican party, under conservative control, can instill discipline we will have an ineffectual party. One of the great failings of George Bush as president was his inability to discipline his own party-probably because he could present no moral posture of conservative values himself.

The law doesn't give authorization power to Congress, it orders the president to give Congress 30 days notice. So, the next time, if he gives Congress 30 days notice, he's followed the law. He can release them all.

I think the law is unconstitutional. The president has unilateral pardon power.

They understood the process, they understood that the American people were the real jury, and they set about making their case, methodically but relentlessly, step by step, brick by brick.

It took 19 months of intense and focussed effort, but they did it.

The major difference between them and today's GOP is that they knew how to exercise their power, they knew what they wanted and they were not frightened by Nixon's huge victory.

Today's Republicans could not possibly pull this off, and feeble efforts to do so will increase Obama's popularity (which may already be happening).

Re your post 11, you, of course, understand that the callers for impeachment on this site—and likely, other websites—do so out of a combination of passion and ignorance of the Constitutional process. They don’t let the facts get in their way.

Similarly, I see a lot of passion for cutting down on Federal Government unions, and yet, it is my understanding (I may be wrong but here’s where I differ from them: I’m willing to allow for such a possibility) that unions do not represent a major force in the Federal Government’s workforce, certainly not among the ranks of professionals such as FBI agents, economists, agricultural agents, those sorts of people.

This is a totally inaccurate description of Graham, he is a wolf in sheep's clothing, his job is to devour everything conservative.

No President is ever going to be impeached and removed from office.

Correct, when the constitutionally prescribed procedure for congress is followed.

Both Parties have a vest interest in protecting the WH for their next President.

Since that is true and congress, the representatives of the people, will not act as prescribed, then the people can apply a mechanism for removal of a president provided them by a constitutional amendment but only if they bother to read, understand and apply!!!

With the DC GOP, ignore all words, watch their actions. So, far, they haven't moved from their fetal position in years. Save yourself time and aggravation expecting the GOP to do a thing. Just be pleasantly surprised, if they do.

Here's a perfect example; on 6/29/2012, almost 2 years ago, the GOP House voted Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. Nothing has happened to Holder since. So, our GOP House, took was used to be a sledgehammer and turned it into a feather by using contempt as a meaningless gesture.

Faat and Furious, 300 Mexicans dead from guns ran to the drug cartels. What has happened? Nothing. Benghazi, a year and a half later, they form a committee. Obama's illegal executive orders aren't even on the radar.

Expect nothing from the GOP Congress and don't be disappointed.

I’ve heard Limbaugh state that over and over. I think part of the reason is that Boehner has a greater animus against conservatives and none against Obama. He’ll make statements, of course, but watch his actions. He has to be forced to take on Obama.

And those making the threats know it as well. As a parent, teacher, or president one should never make a threat unless they intend to carry it out and we all know that Limp Wrist Lindsey and Boner have the backbones of a chocolate eclair.

If obama on national tv took a chainsaw and murdered new born babies and kittens nothing would happen and it’s because we have a Congress that as acquiesced it’s power to the executive branch and does not care one bit.
