Colleville-sur-Mer, FRANCE (CNN) -- President Barack Obama's national security adviser said Friday that her full-throated praise of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was appropriate given the former Taliban prisoner's willingness to go to war for his country -- despite questions about whether or not he deserted his Army colleagues.
Susan Rice, who on Sunday said Bergdahl served the United States with "honor and distinction," told CNN in an interview that she was speaking about the fact the Idaho native enlisted and went to Afghanistan in the service of his country.
"I realize there has been lots of discussion and controversy around this," Rice said. "But what I was referring to was the fact that this was a young man who volunteered to serve his country in uniform at a time of war. That, in and of itself, is a very honorable thing."(continued)

Saying this man served with distinction is a slap in the face of men who died and those who came back disabled, not to mention those who honored their oaths.

This person also participates in the meetings of the National Security Council. The National Security Advisor’s office is located in the West Wing of the White House. She is supported by the National Security Council staff that produces research, briefings, and intelligence for the APNSA to review and present either to the National Security Council or directly to the President. The position used to be filled by intellectual “giants” such as McGeorge Bundy, Henry Kissinger, Judge William P. Clark, Jr., Zbigniew Brzezinski, Brent Scowcroft and Condoleezza Rice. Scared yet?

Actually, most of Arnold’s service to the revolution was honorable, heroic and the continental congress treated him very shabbily in light of his sacrifices. That said, the fact that he was a turncoat nullifies any respect for him and he would/should have been hanged if he had been caught.
