School Sunscreen Ban Causes 10-Year-Old Girl To Get FRIED On Field Trip
Daily Caller ^ | June 6, 2014 | Eric Owens

A San Antonio mother is furious because officials at her 10-year-old daughter’s elementary school banned sunscreen during a recent school field trip.

Guess what happened.

Of course, the poor kid came home crispily sunburned, reports local ABC affiliate KSAT.

To make matters worse, mad mom Christy Riggs said skin cancer runs in her family — and her father who had it passed away recently.

At issue is a district policy which prohibits kids from bringing sunscreen anywhere on school grounds. Riggs strongly disagrees with it.

North East Independent School District spokeswoman Aubrey Chancellor defended the policy because, she said, the district considers sunscreen a medication.

“Typically, sunscreen is a toxic substance,” Chancellor told the Fox affiliate, “and we can’t allow toxic things in to be in our schools.”

The district spokeswoman argued that allowing kids to handle sunscreen is a very risky thing to do.

“They could possibly have an allergic reaction [or] they could ingest it. It’s really a dangerous situation,” Chancellor said.

“We have to look at the safety of all of our students and we can’t allow children to share sunscreen,” she added.

The Borg had to look after the safety of the Collective, too!

Sun screen is merely one of a thousand ways, government teachers willingly agree to teach children to bow down and worship the Government Collective.

Teachers willingly sought expensive training to qualify for a position that trains children to worship the Government Collective.

Teachers, after their freely chosen and expensive training, **willingly** sought work in the Government Collective.

Teachers **willing** go to work and open the doors on a system that **HURTS** children and our nation’s future. None of this could happen without their **willing** cooperation.

Personally....I shun government teachers . I don’t have abortion workers for friends, either.

I burn easily, Scotch, German, Dutch redhead. I burn in the middle of winter on a sunny day. My nickname growing up was “Red”. I was putting sunscream on myself from an early age.

So kids today are not capable of what was routine and necessary for me? Come on. I had kids in my class giving themselves insuline shots when necessary. It’s all about the expectations put on Kids. If you treat them like helpless idiots the will act like helpless idiots.

You are right in that some areas have idiotic mandates- however we have kept some federal regulations out (we gave up medicaid money to do it). We also have our own electric grid- which keeps the feds off our backs in regards to electicity. In rural areas people tend ignore idiotic regs. There is a lot of jury nullification that go’s on if it does make it to court.

How old are you? If you were getting insulin shots from kids in your class, it's unlikely they even had decent sunscreen when you were a kid. They had that savage tan crap that didn't do diddly for palefaces like us. Back in those days, all of us pasty faced folks covered up. That said, I agree with you that today any kid like you or me should and would absolutely know how to put on sunscreen by the age of 10. But a majority of kids who don't have our burning problems probably don't. Not that it matters one way or the other. I'm not arguing for the rule. I'm just saying the mother's an idiot. In the picture the kid has a burnt shoulder! That could have been prevented simply by wearing a shirt with short sleeves. These days we put our pale grandkids in those SPF shirts, but really, a t-shirt would do.

What we have here is a stupid mother who thought putting her pale kid in a skimpy top was a good idea. Now she wants to blame the nanny state for her own foolishness.

I think teachers should be banned from school

Imagine the danger a young child is in when an adult says something dangerous and volitile ...like this or this

What about all those TOXIC teachers then? Or that crappy Mooch’s food? They are toxic. What next are jump ropes banned? Oh, I forgot our kids don’t get recess any more. And a rope is a weapon.

Consider that this is very liberal (blue) San Antonio TX; the place where that jerk Mayor Castro is being pushed to become part of the Obama regime to lead HUD. Idiots.

I grew up in Dallas TX and from about age 4 I was roaming the neighborhood barefoot, shirtless and in cut-off pants. We spent two weeks in Galveston every year at the beach. We never used any “Sun screen” lotions, nor did any of my friends or their families. We got great tans, but never got a severe sunburn because we knew when we were getting a little red and would head for some shade to cool down.

I’m nearing 72 and have worked years doing yardwork, etc., in just shorts as well as playing golf for decades in the hot, sunny weather. ....I truly don’t know anyone who has died from exposure to the Sun, although I read the medical scare things about skin cancer all the time (financed by the firms that make those lotions?). Sunlight provides necessary Vitamin D.

True morons, my skin Dr would be in conniptions. I use a 80-100% block if I'm out more than 20 mins. I'd be a lobster other wise. Had up to 2nd degree burns from sun exposure. Not all of us tan, especially those of us with what skin doctors term Celtic Skin, very fair.

The original sun block ladies used were Parasols!

I had kids giving themselves shots. 70’s and eighties. I remember a hemophiliac with a kit of bandages and shots he carried around.

Just give kids responsibility. They will do fine.

Yeah. Sunscreen. Slather this chemical all over yourself and cover whatever else you can with clothing on account of that star that God put up there in the sky is poisonous.

I recall field trips to the beach in grade school. Sometimes one or two would get burned...out of hundreds.

Aubrey’s not an idiot, I’m a bit surprised she tried to justify this stupidity. Of course, NEISD is widely know. For its “We don’t care what you think, just shut up and color” attitude toward parents.

Because the reality is that before sunscreen the palefaces like me protected ourselves with clothing. We wore hats and our shoulders were always covered. This kid got a burn in her shoulders. The mother knew the stupid rule. No matter how much she wants to blame the nanny state for her kid’s sunburn, the sunburn was ultimately her fault. Why didn’t the mother send her kid to school in a t shirt?

All 11 of our kids went to Catholic school, all the way through.

I think I see the genesis of your handle in this sentence ...
