For a while now, the National Republican Senatorial Committee has told conservatives that we risk Republicans losing to Democrats when we pit outsiders against incumbents because we dont like their politics. However, the NRSC clearly doesnt communicate with members of the House of Representatives and their cohorts in the NRCC where these rules are concerned, as two GOP representatives are fundraising again one of their own.
Two sitting GOP lawmakers, including the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, will raise money next week in an effort to oust Michigan Rep. Justin Amash from Congress.
According to an invitation obtained by POLITICO, Reps. Mike Rogers of Michigan and Devin Nunes of California are slated to appear at a breakfast event for congressional candidate Brian Ellis, who is challenging Amash in the Aug. 5 Republican primary.
That via POLITICO (obviously).
Now, granted, Justin Amash is a bit more libertarian than conservative, but he holds a special place in some of our hearts for saying what sometimes needs to be said. Naturally, that means The Establishment needs to shut him down. Whats even better is that seems to be a really petty attempt to knock down the youngun, as both Rogers and Nunes have been in public arguments with Amash over national security issues. Apparently, party purity is only acceptable when it conforms with the Establishment views. Amash is backed by groups like Club For Growth.
Rogers is the outgoing chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. Nunes called Amash al Qaedas best friend in the Congress, which probably upset Obama because theyre supposed to be routed thanks to his efforts or something.

"Purity for me but not for thee!"
Mike Rogers has an enormous conflict of interest via his wife’s connection to intel related income.
I’ll take a libertarian over an E-publican any day of the week.
As with all chamber maidens, Ellis appears to avoid mentioning immigration in his campaign literature.

me, too - Amash is my rep and I will vote for him in August, if only to have someone in Washington to annoy the Establishment that has done so much damage to Congress, the Constitution and our Country. I hope the young man is re-elected.
I don’t expect Amash or anyone else to be perfect but I see no reason to believe that Ellis is conservative in any meaningful way.
My congressman is Walberg and far from perfect but I know that he is a solid social conservative which lends itself to fiscal conservatism.

The immoral LURE of controlling 25 Trillion dollars of federal money!
There is a way to neuter the estblishment politicians but the state & local politicians continue to run scared of not getting a large enough piece of that Treasury pie!
History (circa 1773) appears to be repeating itself...
I think we need to send our state politicians home for about 9 months of every year. Nothing would make me happier than to stop updating this thread multiple times per week.

Government wasn’t nearly as large or intrusive before the invention of air conditioning. It was simply too miserable in DC for 3 or 4 months of the year to permit anyone to stay there willingly.
Oh I’m talking about the statehouse but yes I agree about Washington too.
