-- Since 1941, comic book fans have followed the exploits of teenaged Archie Andrews and his friends. This July, they'll find out how he dies.
"Life With Archie" #36 hits stores on July 16, and CNN can reveal exclusively that it tells the story of how Archie sacrifices himself to save a friend.
Few details are known, but it seems fitting that Archie would go out a hero. The 37th issue one week later will end the series.

It is my humble opinion he should die with Betty, or and Veronica, the Nelson Rockefeller way.
So the comics have gone lefty in recent years? That's a shame.
However Archie is NOT being canceled, this is a "future scenario" series called "Life With Archie" and the regular series, set in the "present", will not be effected.
Archie hasn’t been worth a s#it since Bob Montana died. BTW, they always had a queer character; his name was Dilton Doily.
Do people really love Archie, or is it just something people inflict on their kids because it was inflicted on them?
No need to look for an alternative to lovable Archie. In 1955, MAD Magazine did a lampoon that stands the test of time. “Starchie”, his pal “Bottleneck”, rival “Wedgie von Smeldt”, girlfriends “Biddy & Salonica” are a bunch of juvenile delinquents & when it’s over Starchie has been sent to reform school for life after causing the death of Wedgie.
Nothing like the 1962 Kurtz & Elder sendup which got them sued & their galleys forfeited to the Archie animators, but the strip has long been the target of satirists.
Only now it’s satirized itself into PC oblivion. Good riddance.
Didn't necessarily mean he was gay.
Simpler times.
More the latter. It's possible to have very positive feelings about Archie and the gang when you don't actually have to read the comics anymore.
Yeah, you have it about right. Here's the 'Archie's Death' cover:
Marvel Comics already did the 'Tea Party' issue with Captain America, where he saves the USA from conservatism.
Comic books are produced in New York City by nebbish four-eyed queers who do lots of drugs and dream of a USA that's turned Leninist.
Only weird neckbeard social outcasts who have Brillo-pad hairstyles and smell like a barrel of wet cookies and Cheetos® still read comic books. They masturbate all day to Japanese schoolgirl cartoons and live off SSDI down in their aunt's basement next to the washing machine where they sniff her laundry. Natural selection was supposed to kill these troglodytes off, but democratic socialism and modern medical advancements permit them to persist.
Not to mention at least a couple of Tijuana "Bibles" that I vaguely recall with the characters. Ah, my misspent youth before the internet!
Still I remember "Dobie Gillis" and wonder about the similarities, was it a satire or a homage?
I hope you’re right. The new boss, Jon G. is confusing me with his description of Life W/ Archie and never really gives a good reason why the character is being killed off. So, if I understood you, the actual comic book general stories of Archie will continue, while the branch off series of “Life W/ Archie” will be axed. He could have just said it was a marketing decision and been done with it.
What ever happened to Lil Jinx?
Well, you try attending High School for 73 years. You'd have a Groundhog's Day too.
Doesn’t mean he wasn’t, either. That stuff was covered up back in the day.

ROLFMAO!! And worth repeating. FWIW I quit reading comics & switched to MAD Magazine when I was still in grade school. Being stationed overseas in the 1950’s with no TV had that effect.
I’ll never understand adults reading comic books like I saw them doing in Vietnam around 1970. Of course that was the year the Golden Triangle heroin really started hitting hard in RVN. Even the grass was laced with it. I stuck to beer; San Miguel if you could find it, PBR if you couldn’t.
Keep in mind that if Archie were about 16 in 1941, he would have been born about 1925. Had he aged normally, he would be about 89 years old now, and would have been living in retirement for some 24 years already. So for somebody who may have been able to participate in the landing at Utah Beach, he had a pretty good run.
Now Dagwood Bumstead, THERE is a guy who would have to be pushing 100. And Mr. Dithers? he would have to be about 130.
But how about this for a run? 1913 until 2000!
It seemed really old timey to me even in the 60s
But SOMEONE must have liked it enough to keep the strip running for 87 years.
Is Moose going to kill him over spurned homosexual overtures?
Nothing little about that at all!
