Flashback: Sen. Lindsey Graham Endorses Democrat in California House Race

South Carolina’s senior Republican, Sen. Lindsey Graham, has endorsed Democrat Howard Berman in Berman’s California House race.

Berman is locked in a tight contest to represent the Golden State’s 30th District with fellow House member and Democrat Brad Sherman.

As a result of re-districting, the two Democrats were forced into a run-off by a California election law that requires the two top finishers in a primary to advance to the general election, irrespective of party.*

The race in suburban Los Angeles is expected to be close and the endorsement from Graham could make the difference for Berman, who also received endorsements on Monday from Sens. John McCain (R – Arizona) and Joseph Lieberman (I – Connecticut).

I’m beginning to think you are not a Lindsey fan :)

Hope for the best this week. Surprised there hasn’t been more traction to get rid of him this cycle.

...typical. At least Sherman is a CPA and not a complete leftist like Berman. What are supposed Repubs doing in a CA primary race of Dems? Hopefully Linda Gramnesty will be hit with this while still in his primary race...

ymmv

Why did you post this as newsworthy when you KNEW both Sherman and Berman are democrats, as it says in the article. Or didn’t you read past the first sentence, as usual?

Lee Bright and Linda Graham will square off in a debate tonight at 7:00 on SCETV. I want to see Bright mop the floor with Linda.

I’ll admit, this story gave me pause because the headline could be misleading, possibly implying that Graham endorsed the democrat over the republican. But the story easily explains that, as you said, within three sentences, that the contest was between two democrats.

I’ve been posting stories that demonstrate Graham’s true views (based on his actions and votes), his inclinations and his character. The question that begs to be asked is why the hell would Graham be involved in this race at all. And the answer, because his buddies, liberal John McCain and democrat Joe Lieberman endorsed him.

I just did a search on other Lindsey Graham endorsements and couldn’t find many. He endorsed Charlie Crist, which is telling. But he could find the time to endorse a democrat in far away California.
