A couple of months ago, we posted one of our early Google Search/Now rumors, and it was something of a long range rumor compared to others. While things like parking reminders, proper timer management, and bill pay reminders have already seen their public release, the ability to set contact-based reminders ("remind me when I'm with this person"), hasn't come forward yet. But it will likely appear very soon with a new feature in Android called Nearby, which will allow new interactions between you and nearby people, places, and things.

If I wanted to troll around for someone I thought was nearby, I’d send them a loud, obnoxious, distinctive sound clip by email. And then listen to see if anyone played it.

The hospital where our son was in ICU for weeks has let Google in the building to map the place with Virtual tours of the building. That is creepy and stupid. I guess it is a public place, but it is a public safety issue as far as I am concerned.

Seems to me that indoors, anything GPS based is going to be dicey.
Hopefully this Nearby app will allow users to build a “need to know” list.
Little tricks may confuse some average tracking implementors, but through the advances in machine learning, such noise is easily discarded.
I posit that it’s about loyalties and attitudes of heart. Gimmicks might or might not be involved.
We can already see glimpses of it in the gay craze. Say something bad about “gay marriage” and you are anathema. No special gadgets are needed to effect this.
