Google Will Soon Introduce 'Nearby' To Let Others Know When You're Around (Trunc)

A couple of months ago, we posted one of our early Google Search/Now rumors, and it was something of a long range rumor compared to others. While things like parking reminders, proper timer management, and bill pay reminders have already seen their public release, the ability to set contact-based reminders ("remind me when I'm with this person"), hasn't come forward yet. But it will likely appear very soon with a new feature in Android called Nearby, which will allow new interactions between you and nearby people, places, and things.

Remember the Jewish phylacteries, which by the way are inscribed with letters as well as containing slips of parchment that are also inscribed. I say it is well within the realm of the metaphorical.

The point is, you will have to make an externally observable commitment. Missing the metaphorical possibilities of the Revelation scripture means the hazard of failing to recognize it. You think you headed off Satan at your front door, when he marches right in the back door and says hello I’m your friend.

One would expect a demonic riff to twist some things.

And all contain the inscribed parchments.

Have it ony Google RAZR. I haven’t initiated it yet but its for only those who are in the “loop” so to say. You need to input the numbers of your friends and they must have your number. You can’t just stand next to a stranger and they can see your stuff.

That’s what turning the feature off is for.

Strikes me as potentially handy. Seems every time I go to visit someone in a hospital I pick the worst entrance possible, then I have to navigate through the whole hospital to get to them. Which is a dicey proposition in some hospitals and led me down some odd corridors (I know where the morgue is in 3 hospitals, not an easy feat, they like to hide those). A map app with the right turns would be nice.

Problem is I’d have to ask multiple times. Hospitals around here are huge, and oddly enough they aren’t really designed for easy travel from one section to another, at least through the public halls. If you need to go corner to corner (which it seems I always do) you’ve got to hit like 8 different halls, way too complicated to remember somebody’s direction. Or take the cafeteria path, I have learned the cafeteria is easy to get to from anywhere.

Wonderful! Perhaps criminals can pay a subscription for the service! To quote Cesar Romero, aka, the Joker on Batman, “Wonderful, wonderful!”

I have been in hospitals like that. They build new wings and close areas down, put in detours to other hallways, send you to the basement, have one exit on an elevator which puts you on Floor 1 but the exit on the other side of the elevator puts you on Floor 2. Lol. I never like it when I find the morgue.

Then there are the haunted areas . . .

Then have a “Where Is He” list, and and another “I dunno” list. Of course, Skynet will have a “gotcha” list, which it would be better to avoid.

Stop using Google products. They'll only become more intrusive, not less. All Google software is in a perpetual "beta" state, meaning it's always evolving (throw out the Privacy clause and Terms of Service - they mean NOTHING).

Use Startpage or Ixquick. https://ixquick.com

They don't track your IP address, but it gives the same Google results. If you use IE, you can set ixquick as you default search engine (Tools, Manage Add-ons, Search engines).
