Scott Switches Positions on Immigration Ahead of Election
NBC Miami ^ | 6/9/14 | Monday, Jun 9, 2014

Posted on 06/09/2014 6:37:27 PM PDT by nickcarraway

When Rick Scott made his maverick push for Florida governor four years ago, the Republican took a hard line against immigration that he used to assail his main GOP rival for the job.

Scott called for an Arizona-styled enforcement law and a need to "secure the borders." Just last year he vetoed a bill that would have offered temporary driver's license to some young immigrants.

But the incumbent governor is now making a concentrated push to win over Hispanic voters in what appears to be a tight re-election campaign.

Scott on Monday signed into law a bill that guarantees in-state tuition rates to high school students living in the country illegally.

So Florida now discriminates against U.S. citizens from other States, but not illegal aliens?

Clear violation of the 14th Amendment.

Someone around here had just recently been defending Gov Scott. Wonder if they feel the same way, today.

Why is NBC Miami referring to as ‘immigration’?

Governor Scott has reduced Florida’s debt in absolute terms to the level it was at when Crist first entered office.

I cannot pretend that a governor Crist wouldn’t have signed this legislation, so what exactly are we choosing over again?

Scott has cut taxes and cut debt.

I truly wish he could be an unmistakable clone of myself on every policy decision, but I can’t compare him to that ideal, I have to compare him the existing alternative.

And I already know how that story turns out...

The problem you have is that people are tired of voting for the lesser evil, and out to punish moderate liberal republicans.

It's the new reality.

Nobody’s perfect ay?

Doesn't even begin to even up the score.

There is no comparison.

Amnesty, in any and all of it's forms, either incrementally or in large doses is a Republic Killer.

Then we can have more debt and the same policies.
I can’t see why anyone would do that.

Yeah, I’m not sure what the deal is here, it’s like there is something in the water or the air, similar to the west coast.
