Absolutely. But Ishmael did not found Islam. His descendant Mohammed did.

Unless you’re a Muslim, in which case you believe Islam is just the true religion, and all of the prophets from Adam to Jesus were Muslims. Mohammed did not found Islam, by this POV, he merely purified and finalized it.

Arabs claim to be (and are)descendants of Ishmael, just as I am a descendant of Isaac.

Mohammed, an arab, founded his false religion some 3,000-4,000 years after the death of Ishmael.

He didn’t found it according them, he was just a prophet. I’ve had this talk with them a lot.

Either way they’re wrong in their belief of paradise etc.

You may give anyone the benefit of the doubt you wish.
I would agree with you that God may be merciful with a Moslem who mistakenly thinks s/he is praying to the one true God.
I was only addressing what Islam teaches, not the sincerity of an individual Moslem.

We are taught to exercise discernment and to reject new gospels. Especially those that contradict God’s law and revelation/ Biblical Scripture. I will stick with that conclusion (insofar as the Islamic faith is concerned — it is patently and repeatedly in opposition to the God of the J/C Bible and its people, as anyone can see... violently so...).........

again I can agree with your thought that God may be merciful or forgiving or understanding to individuals of any religion or culture who sincerely think or strive to pray to Him.. I rather think He will be so....).

Best regards,
fhc

They claim Moshe and Abraham as prophets, too.

And basically every other person in the Torah.

All while claiming the Torah is Jewish lies.

Who or what dictated the Koran to Mohammad in that cave? Or did Mo just make it all up?

Far as I know, Torah is the old law.

I suspect a combination of demonic influence, delusion, genuine though perhaps misguided belief in his mission and opportunism.

Much like Joseph Smith, probably.

That I do not believe Mohammed (or Joe) to be genuine prophets of God does not necessarily mean that all who follow them today are therefore worshiping demons, IMO.

People who were indisputably Christian believers have over the centuries followed men who led them into committing great atrocities, quite frequently in the name of Christ. Does not mean that they were therefore no longer worshipers of God, only that they were misled and at least for that time no longer walking in his light.

Islam is in some ways the greatest of all Christian heresies.
