Dana Milbank: Obama is a prisoner of groupthink
Washington Post ^ | June 10, 2014 | by Dana Milbank

... “It was our judgment, and it was unanimous, by the way,” Hagel said. “It was the secretary of defense, secretary of state, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, director of national intelligence, attorney general. We all came to the same conclusion. . . .”

And this is precisely the problem. President Obama felt “very strongly” that he had made the right decision — and nobody who worked for him was about to tell him otherwise. “There was not a dissent on moving forward with this plan,” Ben Rhodes, a deputy national security adviser, told Time magazine.

The real damage was self-inflicted: choosing to highlight the exchange with a Rose Garden ceremony featuring Bergdahl’s eccentric father, and then allowing Rice, the national security adviser, to go on television and say Bergdahl served with “honor and distinction” even though administration officials had to know this was in dispute.

Now, as Obama finally withdraws the last troops from Afghanistan, he’ll be a more effective president if he can also remove himself from the groupthink produced by his adoring acolytes.

Latest excuse. The Group made him do it. Well, his handlers are the group, so technically this is an accurate assertion.

Obama isn’t the prisoner of ANYTHING.

He is the creator and the warden of an imbecile and creeping American Marxism.

The only reason someone gets surrounded by “yes men” is when he actively discourages or even punishes those who offer dissent - Obama isn’t a “prisoner” of groupthink, he cultivates it.

Somehow Dana forgot to include this key information

“President Obama’s aides met with unanimous opposition from Congress when they first raised the possibility of releasing five Taliban guerrillas from Guantanamo Bay in 2011 and 2012, and administration officials publicly and repeatedly vowed to return to Capitol Hill before making any final moves.”

The only quibble I have is that I don’t think any of them actually think. They just run around like a bunch of sheep, flitting from field to field.

“It was our judgment, and it was unanimous, by the way,” Hagel said.

It was unanimous only after President "My Way or the Highway" said he was going to do it and his underlings had no choice but to agree.

One man’s “groupthink” is another man’s “loyalty.”

“Dana Milbank: Obama is a prisoner of groupthink”

I don't even know what this is supposed to mean. It is not English. It is incoherent gibberish.

The supposed point of this weird article is that Obama is a great president and nothing bad that happened is his fault.

The MSM are finding it more and more difficult to lie to protect Obama.

Obama is a fascist Alinskyite. He intends to destroy America as we know it, a constituion loving nation. Obama does NOT follow the constitution. He attacks it at every turn.

Obama is no prisoner of group think. Obama celebrates and establishes group think, the lock step mentality of fascism.
There can be no alternate or second opinion. Its “my way or the highway,” which is why Obama cannot negotiate with COngress. Obama is not a negotiator ( as if anyone did NOT notice after that horrible Gitmo prisoner swap).

There’s no need to negotiate with The Groupthink for the return of “prisoner” Obama – he holds their beliefs, just as much as Bergdahl does with regard to his former “captors”...

Obama’s administration is just one big faculty lounge. They all reinforce each other’s opinion and agree on the same themes.
