The third-ranking House Republican is offering support for a path to legal status that would allow millions of undocumented immigrants in the country to work and pay their taxes.
In a new interview published late Tuesday, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) hinted that those contours of legal status may be included in the immigration principles that House GOP leaders are poised to soon release.
“The principles aren’t combined or written out yet, but in my personal belief, I think you’ll go with legal status,” McCarthy told KBAK/KBFX Eyewitness News in Bakersfield, Calif. “That it will allow you to work [and] pay your taxes.”

Reform is needed—thats a fact—but Amnesty isn’t the answer. A Path to citizenship must be established but one that consists of hard work and contribution to America. How about the following: 1. Serve in the US Military—with Honorable discharge get citizenship for service (and for wife and kids).
2. Serve in Police force—or National parks at a low wage for 10 years—get citizenship if you serve with honor. 3. Pay a fine, pay taxes, don’t take welfare, don’t break laws, Learn English—after 15 years (or 20) recieve Citizenship for yourself and spouce and kids. BUT, break laws—the full weight of the judicial system should fall on you! To include exicutions (hangings—firing squades etc...) No free trips back south of the border. 4. Do something heroic —Like save a baby from a burning house—stop a crime-—etc... The Governor of a state can grant amnesty case by case.
BUT! The Border MUST BE SECURE! Fences, walls, land mines, Motes, Towers, forts, This wall should be harder than the Great Wall of China. A whole new branch of the Military should man these posts—The Border Guard (like the coast guard on land) and they should have armored cars, tanks, planes, etc... to do the Job! Layers of barricades—and seal the border tight-—no illegals—no drugs—no terrorists. Should look like Hitler’s Atlanic Wall on sterodes. From Texas to California.
If we had a legitimate government that at minimum consisted of good people that loved this country and wanted the best for it, then your plan MIGHT work. But since the govt as it is doesnt meet those minimum qualifications,then it’s nothing more than an academic exercise.
