Eric Cantor to step down as majority leader

Rep. Eric Cantor will step down as majority leader, according to several Republicans sources, ending a meteoric 13-year Congressional career.

Several GOP sources say his resignation from that job will be effective July 31.

Stepping down as Majority Leader. Right after the RINOS pass Amnesty with the Democrats before the Aug 1 recess.

How is Eric Cantor, who is not going to have power in a couple of months and has very little to offer other congressmen, going to be an enforcer on a topic which requires members to go out on a limb to get done? He can't offer them anything, really. He's a lame duck, if he tries twisting arms he'll get laughed at. So how is his presence in that role supposed to help amnesty?

Cantor only needs 18 RINO votes to pass Amnesty. Who’s going to stop him and Boner from bringing the bills to the floor?

And who was going to stop Cantor from doing this had he won yesterday? Our options were:

1) Defeat Cantor and have him push amnesty;
2) Reelect Cantor and have him push amnesty.

Option 1, yesterday’s outcome, is better.

It should be obvious to anyone paying attention what the real reason for Eric Cantor's loss is. Cantor failed to do what is expected from all incumbent Republican candidates these days.

Cantor failed to secretly fund a Libertarian third candidate to confuse voters and split the vote.

In his district, with the way that he neglected to maintain a good relationship with his constituents, it may not have mattered. But having not tried at all to run a dark horse to dilute his opposition shows that he was never fit to lead the GOPe.
