Given how savagely anti-gay the mainstream Oklahoma Republican party is, its no surprise that the states Tea Partiers are so rabidly hateful that they come across more as dark satire than as serious bigots. To wit: This week, an Oklahoma magazine discovered that last summer, Tea Party state House candidate Scott Esk endorsed stoning gay people to death: I think we would be totally in the right to do it, he said in a Facebook post. Esk went on to add nuance to his position:
That [stoning gay people to death] goes against some parts of libertarianism, I realize, and Im largely libertarian, but ignoring as a nation things that are worthy of death is very remiss.
When a Facebook user messaged Esk to clarify further, he responded:
I never said I would author legislation to put homosexuals to death, but I didnt have a problem with it.

Thanks for that, Coronal
Now, those inclined can send off an email to this group and let them know what they think ... no doubt some here support what Eck has said and hopefully many more don’t.... so whatever your feeling, let them know.
I am suggesting that some people say stupid things in the heat of the moment. Why perpetuate the "one offs" that try to paint the TEA party in a bad light. That bad light has been the MSM mode of operation since the movement began. Why give MSM any credibility here at FR?
I just dont get the ostrich head in sand approach to what is being said in the media.
The purpose is not to put our heads in the sand. The battle should be us doing everything earthly possible to fight and discredit the MSM for their leftist slant. I might be wrong, but that doesn't seem to be your intent with this thread.
Oklahoma Republican thinks stoning gay people is okay
But, when asked by a reporter at the Moore Daily, an Oklahoma news website, to clarify his statements, Esk doubled down.
What I will tell you right now is that that was done in the Old Testament under a law that came directly from God, and in that time it was totally just, it came directly from God, Esk said.
I have no plans to reinstitute that in Oklahoma Law, Esk continued. I do have some very huge moral misgivings about those kinds of sins, and I think those kinds of sins will not do our country any good and certainly dont do anything to preserve the family.
How can we fight the MSM if we don’t even know what is out there.
There are frequently things I don’t post, that I see posted here 3-4 days after the fact. Which means most people don’t get to know about it until it’s already a big furor in the media and we have zero input so late. We can’t investigate who is behind things, we can’t find out about the people involved etc.
That’s fine if that if what FR policy is, let them post what the policy is and I’ll follow it. Just don’t have one policy for me and a different one for everyone else.
I hope you have questioned the motives of everyone else that has posted negative media stories about the tea party on here. When Nancy Pelosi or other pols make off the wall slanderous remarks about the tea party being racists and terrorists and such, and people post that at FR I hope you have called them all down for that. I hope you have questioned their motives
Esk has a right to say/believe whatever he wants. I have no quibble with him on that.
I have a right to say it is hurting the tea party goals for governance (if he is indeed affiliated with the tea party).
Just remember an eye witness is required and that circumstantial evidence, hearsay, and even confessions are inadmissible.
I do not know the circumstances of what was said in this particular event, but if he is truly a TEA Party representative he believes in spending cuts, lower taxes, and less government. Not killing gays.

TP ok with child labor.
TP ok with sexual harassment.
TP behind OKC bombing.
TP is racist.
blah blah blah
Now we learn, according to Slate, a TP candidate is ok with stoning gays. Now other “news” agencies are jumping on board with this story. It’s rolling like a California wildfire, that is of course, until someone stomps it out.
On and on it goes. To demonize, then destroy is a age old gimmick that works best on simpletons, even today.
Or is it the left using selected quotes again? Quotes from 2013.
If he doesn’t have enough savy or brains to disavow this stated belief, we don’t need him in the Tea Party. It will be another albatross or “not a witch” distraction. One does not advocate for any lawful citizens to be stoned nowadays in the states.
Does anyone know who this guy is, or have an actual source for him being tea party?
Tom wrote a bill for VA in which sodomites were to be castrated. Didn't pass.
That’s what I’d like to know too.
See post #93.
I don’t know if that is true but it is what one person has dug up so far
Well at least he was just gonna cut off their... um... Well last time a described something like this accurately my post was removed.
Glad it didn’t pass. TJ was pretty much famous for a disconnect between rhetoric and governing after all. I always loved the rhetoric!
Yes. Virginia kept the death penalty.
got to vet. too many fools can make a correct statement or 2 and have stuff like this around their neck.
Interesting. Thx.
It seems TJ was trying to moderate the punishment, not increase.
