It was a NATO operation. The USAF and Navy and, later, Marine aircraft operated from Aviano, Italy.

Lakin did NOT agree with an illegal, undocumented alien and an unqualified C-I-C and took his stand which he had taken an OATH/Constitution to defend!!!
GW had neutered Libya to such an extent that it gave up the weapons of mass destruction program surrendering even the secret nuclear research program Saddam had been running. None of our intelligence agencies were aware of that program.

Attacking Libya was the height of stupidity but the military obeyed orders and accomplished the intention of the mission. Having lunatics like this control the military is terrifying.
