"Intersting" Noob falls for classic blunder and gets the ZOT! Ted Cruz Gives Up His Canadian Citiz
Vanity | 6-11-2014 | Sam Troy

It's interesting that Ted Cruz was born a tri-Citizen. People need to realize that Mr. Cruz obtained his Cuban citizen from his father who had not yet naturalized at the time Ted was born. That is a fact. It is being reported that he officially renounced his Canadian Citizenship today but what about his Cuban Citizenship inherited from his father Rafael? Why is this being ignored by the media as well as his supporters? Don't get me wrong, I like Ted Cruz but this issue needs to be addressed.

“...“Pass the dressing, please” was heard next....”

And yet, still, as the Scribes have recorded, he had the temerity to bemoan the lack of garlic and seasoning...

And thus, it passed into history, unseasoned, and cindered.

This is a cautionary tale - for the ages.

If Bik is still doing some zot graphics, this line of horribleness would be a great addition to them.

RE Graphics:

Think of a crinkle-cut, fried, blackened, and crisped slice of Turnip, with a little sizzle wisp of smoke curling up above it... perched nicely on a blackened patch of burnt grass.

Maybe a few crows laying scattered about, flattened out on their backs, with “X”’s for eyes....

“Ponderosa Explosia”

A fairly common phenomenon after visiting that establishment.

LOL! And here, all this time, I thought it was “solar flare activity”...

We had a steak house chain here called “Sizzler” for a while, back in the 90s. Haven’t seen them around for years. Ate there a few times, got sick both times. Don’t know if it was improper handling, food prep, or just a coincidence, but I never went back.

I love Cruz but why wouldn’t he have the same “problem” that Obama did as far as eligibility goes?

No. There is zero doubt that Cruz an American citizen at the time of his birth, which, despite all the furor to the contrary, is the only definition that's ever legally mattered for "natural born citizen". Some of the alleged circumstances around Obama's birth would, if proven true, show him to not have been an American citizen at the time of birth. Different issues.

-- He was born an American citizen, thus he had no need to renounce anything, since the US does not recognize what Canada or anybody else consider their citizens. --

I think he had to make a public showing of some sort, seeing that his birth certificate is Canadian. Some people would interpret that as "significant," somehow.

Ted Cruz Birth Certificate

The Cruz camp finds the same thing you do, that he was never a Canadian citizen, and Canada had no claim on him.

But Cruz's office says that so far as it knows, the senator has no Canadian citizenship.

-- The difference is the claim against Obama. The claim is that Obama's mama birthed Obama overseas BEFORE she had met the years of eligibility requirements of the law. --

Cruz need not resort to a statute for US citizenship, does he? If so, it means Congress could, by changing the statute, effectively amend the constitution. A statutory change would redefine the meaning of "natural born citizen" under the constitution.

No. Citizenship at birth is conferred either by location of birth or by blood. His was conferred by blood. The result: he was born a citizen.

Natal = birth

Nat(birth)ural Citizen = citizen at birth

Any legislation in terms of paperwork is based on recognizing what IS. A consular report of birth abroad is no different than any citizen at birth getting a birth certificate.

Having researched and debated the matter extensively since 2008, I've concluded that the matter is a legal consideration and was intended to remove all possibility of any other legitimate jurisdiction over a President, meaning that he or she could not possibly be controlled in any way by another country. This is critical in a Commander-in-Chief, especially.

I've said all along that there are questions regarding Ted Cruz in this regard, but that these questions could potentially be resolved in his favor. He's renounced any claim that Canada may have had. Canada needs to renounce any claim also. Cuba, I believe, lost any legitimate, legally recognized claim upon the father of Ted Cruz due to the Revolution there and his becoming an exile. He threw off that allegiance, which in turn removed any claim upon his son.

The whole matter is simultaneously more complicated and less complicated than people have been making it out to be. It's not a black and white, clearcut matter other than in the instance of people born in this country to parents who are it's citizens. Others can be natural born citizens, but there are questions to resolve, the resolution of which can be favorable, or unfavorable. This ties directly back to Chief Justice Waite in Minor v Happersett, among other pertinent cases.

My comment was based on your remark that Obama, had he been born out of the US, would not have been a US citizen. That's what I found "confusing," if you will. There is no "how old your mother was" line in the constitution, that qualification appears in a statute.

Have you changed your position on that?
