... Warrens bill sparked a fierce debate in the Senate, where Republicans said Democrats are cynically capitalizing on student loan debt for election-year gains.
Ive been calling on the majority leader to press pause on his partys non-stop campaign, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Wednesday morning.
President Barack Obama and second lady Jill Biden had thrown their support behind the bill in recent days, and Obama on Monday rolled out new executive actions to help address student loan debt alongside the action in the Senate.
Senate Democrats want an issue to campaign on to save their own hides this November, McConnell said. Americans are not going to fall for this spin.
Speaking on the Senate floor Wednesday, Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), ranking member of the Senate education committee, implored the chamber to send Warrens bill, which skipped the committee process, back to the education committee and take up veterans and appropriations legislation that is waiting for floor time in the chamber instead.
Warrens bill would pay for refinancing students loans by raising taxes on the wealthy, a guaranteed non-starter for Republicans in the Senate and the House. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) who Tuesday said Democrats will bring it back to the floor in the future if it fails to pass Congress has in the past said that paying for a student loan bill using the so-called Buffet rule is a surefire way to politicize it.
But Warren and other Democrats have cast the bill as a choice between helping students and helping the rich.

Here we go again - recycling the old playbook.
This bill was purely a poison pill bill, of course, to present something with a title they knew could not pass so it could be used to spin politically. No surprise, but getting really tiresome.
Remember when Dizzie Miss Lizzie said this at the DNC?
“For many years now, our middle class has been chipped, squeezed, and hammered,” she said. “People feel like the system is rigged against them. And here’s the painful part: They’re right. The system is rigged.”
Warren is so upset she just might go on the warpath.
Nah she will just have her cheeks lifted over the summer.
When are the Republicans going to use this same method on them. They could say the dems are against reigning in the NSA therefore they want to spy on you. They could say, the dems want open borders, therefore they are against American citizens and want diseases to infect Americans and want Americans to lose jobs. They could say the dems support Husseins terrorists swap and therefore are against our very own military. They could say the dems support IRS targeting, therefore they want to weaponize the IRS. They could do it so easily. The list is endless. Wish they would.
This line shut up a liberal once.
I never got a job from a poor person. And, why would you want to penalize your husband’s employer?
First, the federal government has no business in the student loan industry.
Second, if they want to attack the problem, which is the skyrocketing costs of a college education and if the federal government is going to be involved, how about denying federal aid to universities that increase fees and tuition by more than the rate of inflation?
That would at least limit inhernet problem with the endless stream of money universities are now collecting.

Student Loan, Car Loan, Payday Loan, Mortgage Loan, whatever Loans People Volunteer for is their responsibility to pay back, not the Lenders or the Taxpayers.
Wait, didn’t Obama already raise Income Taxes on the Rich and the rest of us poor slobs as well?
Ask a Liberal how much is too much, they haven’t a clue.
I suggest we just kill everybody making more than $250,000 a year and take everything they have to pay for whatever makes us feel good.
Would that make you happy, Democrats?
