Rand Paul: Let's Compromise on Amnesty
Breitbart ^ | June 11, 2014 | Tony Lee

Posted on 06/12/2014 12:05:26 AM PDT by lilyramone

A day after House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) lost his primary after Dave Brat hammered him on amnesty, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) embraced "immigration reform" on a conference call with Michael Bloomberg's pro-amnesty group and Grover Norquist.

Paul, a potential 2016 contender, reportedly said that "amnesty is a word that’s trapped us," and, according to CNN, emphasized, "If you want immigration reform, there has to be openness to compromise." Earlier on Wednesday, talk radio host Rush Limbaugh declared that when politicians in Washington say "immigration reform" what they really mean is "amnesty."

I had high hopes for Rand, what a disappointment.

I never did, and would feel the heat here periodically.....I had him pretty correctly tagged as "The son of the father" from day one.

We call the goys here “goyam”; you speak NY-ese, by way of Frank Rizzo.

I’ve never watched one second of Seinfeld; that show is too “NY” for me.

RE :&rdquoPeople seem to be catching that “Hey! Let’s Give The Illegals Amnesty!” flu lately...
What part of “Get In Line And Come Here LEGALLY” don’t they understand?
Any R that falls for this line of BS needs to be “Cantored”.

Rand is definitely acting like he will run for POTUS.
This is part of his ‘The GOP cant win the WH unless they...’ theme.
It will be interesting to see how it flies in the 2016 primary, if he actually takes it that far.

The biggest problem I see with immigration reform is that the GOP cant support a bill designed to pander to Hispanics and be consistent with the principles that they espouse, because those two will always conflict.

So they lie about the bill they support instead as the GWB people did, then Rubio did.

Similar with Chamber Commerce issues.

If a man is willing to compromise on his principles, he never truly held them to begin with.

From what you’ eh told me and from what I’ve read, Frank was a good man.

He’d like my “solution” to certain problems.

I (usually) say my “r’s”. :)

Frank was .... Frank. He told you where he stood on things, and he meant what he said, and he followed through.

There was an element that hated him; but there was a larger element that loved the guy.

Elderly folks weren’t afraid to walk the streets of their neighborhoods - the neighborhoods they’d basically built and lived in all of their lives.

Now... not so much.

I’m more than happy to compromise.

They have 60 days to clear up their affairs and get out of the country.

After 60 days anyone caught in this country illegally will be deported immediately with only the clothes on their back and the govt will seize all other assets to cover the cost.

Paul is an idiot like Canter apparently. This is MUCH bigger than immigration. This is about representative government.

Those who want better border protection as part of a compromise were given a southern border fence. Now may a fences is a waste of money, BUT THIS GOVERNMENT WASTES MONEY ALL OVER THE PLACE.

Without a fence on the southern border the Rand Paul’s of this world can not sell any kind of compromise. No one serious will or should believe their end of the compromise will be upheld. No fence on the southern border undermines confidence in representative government and means no other compromise will be possible.

This problem goes beyond immigration to other areas where deals are made and not kept. Starting at least with Clinton, some Dems decided they were really clever promising things to the GOP in legislative deals with no intension of following through. Maybe the GOP legislators thought they were getting enough cover, but what they along with the Dems and various Judges were doing is undermining faith in the government and representative government.

The first thing undermining faith in representative government does is cause very little to get done. In the longer run this causes pressures to build up that may and probably will have to be vented in some fashion.

Yeah, when we were there last year, we went past 58th Street...it was like we crossed into Uganda.

I called my nephew and told him where we were, and he yelled: “GTFOutta there!”

Wish I had a piece on me that night. Luckily, we escaped unharmed.

I took a pic of the huge Frank mural in the Italian section.

RE Mural:

Some asshat vandalized it a few years ago. I think it’s been repaired. Probably one of those “elements” that hated the guy.

Black ink with the word “Fascista” written on it.

Gee... now just WHO would write “Fascista”... on it...

Let's understand this brilliant strategy for Republican prospects. Amnesty and a path to citizenship for however many illegal aliens there are. So within a few years, counting offspring, we will have at least 20 million voters who will vote Democrat 7-1 or more. Going back to the mid-19th Century, immigrants (British, Dutch, and German Protestants excepted) have voted predominantly Democrat. Even Asian ethnic groups who have above average incomes and education vote Democrat, though by a 2-1 or 3-1, vs, the 7-1 margin for Latin Americans. The result of amnesty: Florida, Ohio, and maybe Indiana go blue; Arizona, Texas, Georgia, and maybe Oklahoma go purple. A Democrat ascendancy is assured for at least several generations. If they were capable, Saul Alinsky, the Fabian Socialists, and the Frankfurt School professors would be smiling at the results of their century-old “long march” through American institutions.

Whether GOP-e like Boehner or Cantor or libertarian like Rand Paul, amnesty is the high road to assuring a Democrat, which is to say a socialistic, secular humanist, future.

I remember Romney had an interview on tv a while back and they asked him what his biggest regret was about the election he lost. “That I did not reach out to Hispanics more.” So there you have it. Many conservatives sat home and he lost but there is no way he would have pursued them then and there won’t be any pursuit of us in the future with the GOPe.
