With precious days left to sway primary voters, three of the four Colorado Republicans seeking their partys gubernatorial nomination are aligning themselves with the anti-establishment wave that just toppled the second most powerful Republican in the U.S. House, majority leader Eric Cantor.
After Cantor lost his seat Tuesday night to a virtually unknown professor, Dave Brat, due to strong support from anti-Cantor forces within conservative talk radio and beyond, Tom Tancredo, Scott Gessler and Mike Kopp openly celebrated.
If I were a drinking man, Id have been drunk last night.

Tancredo and Tom Delay both bashing Cantor.
I like tom tancredo. Voted for him for govenor.
Gessler is the best bet to win against Hickenlooper instead of two retreads that lost Governor’s races.
Why did the establishment let Beauprez in?
He seemed to cozy up to them. When he ran against Ritter for the open Gubernatorial seat in 2006 as a sitting Congressman, it was a fiasco, a 17% blowout (57-40%). To put to rest any claims that Tancredo is particularly better, even he (along with the flawed GOP nominee) couldn’t hold Hickenlooper to under 50% in 2010. What’s so incredible is that then-incumbent Dem Gov. Ritter was so convinced the GOP would put up a strong nominee in 2010 (along the lines of Scott McInnis) that he quit rather than run again. He didn’t have to do that, since he would’ve won again.
That two retreads are running again after the fiascos of 2006 and 2010 really takes the cake. Tancredo may appear to be the Tea Party-preferred candidate, but he still remains weak and divisive. Beauprez is the candidate for the establishment and for Willard, which (ignoring his awful performance in 2006) should dismiss him out of hand.
Scott Gessler is just right between the two of them, with one significant difference. He has won statewide as Secretary of State (even as Tancredo and Ken Buck went down in flames) in 2010. It’s why he should be the no-brainer choice, and without any of the baggage of Tancredo or Beauprez.
I agree.
I don’t think Tancredo can win, and last I checked, Beuzprez is polling just horribly. Easy decision.
Tancredo bump. Hugh Hewitt and Michael Medved hate him and that’s as good a recommendation as it gets.
