Yes, ObamaCare is a fiscal disaster. Yes, the stimulus was a flop and doubling the national debt is awful. And yes, having the IRS punish citizens for their political beliefs is a new level of abuse unseen under any previous president.
But forget all that. History will declare President Obamas biggest failure his abandonment of Iraq. It is the biggest, dumbest and most costly foreign policy mistake since World War II. Nothing else is even close.
There are no defenders of President Obamas idiotic abandonment of an American ally/fledging democracy in the heart of the Middle East. There are only knee-jerk haters of George W. Bush making juvenile No War For Oil pseudo-arguments.
President Obama loves to talk about what he inherited from President Bush (its his second-favorite I word, the first, obviously, being I), but he rarely uses the word in Iraq. Because what he inherited there was a military victory, a young democracy, a nation with a multi-party and multi-factional government and the potential to grow economically into a powerful regional ally of the US.
What President Obama has given the world is another center of chaos to go along with Syria, Pakistan, North Africa, Ukraine, etc. etc. He took a win and threw it away. Al Qaeda and Iran couldnt be happier.

Cross pollination with Mark Steyn's brilliant article on this same topic ... Helicopters on the Roof
Perfect! You and Mark Steyn (see post #21 if you haven’t seen the article already) were on the same page.
Heard an interview from Ollie North this morning and he said, suicides will come of it. He said the Iraq veterans with PTSD will be so hopeless, thinking about their best buddies who shed blood and treasure and limbs for the Iraqi people and Americans, will be in so much despair they will be compelled to end it.
The fact that Obama, Holder and Jarrett aren’t in prison by now is a testament to the determined dishonesty of the US news media.
Their only real successes were (a)saving Europe from mass starvation, a projected headed by Herbert Hoover, (b)saving West Berlin via the 1947 airlift and (c)putting MacArthur in charge in Japan.
You might also add (d)the Marshall Plan, but all the good which it did was more than undone by Marshall's role in strengthening the Soviet Union by ensuring a Maoist victory in China.
Cannot help wondering if we’re also in store for 2014 version of “Boat People.” Temporary to extended accommodation of refugees is OK, but the available resource for that endeavor might be spread a little thin.
Arguably allowing the Soviets to have half of Korea as an occupation zone (in return for declaring war on Japan 6 days before Japan agreed to surrender) was a bigger one. But if al-Qaeda gains control of all of Iraq, that could be more damaging over time than having the Communists in control of North Korea.
Nixon inherited a complete screw-up that LBJ didn’t even have the balls to finish, yet he was able to turn it around into something decent...then the democrats came and finished the job of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
To be fair, even WWII could’ve been fought better than it was, considering the nazis were just replaced with the soviets (could Stalin have conquered half of Europe if WWII hadn’t happened?).
Big ears?
An affinity for menthol cigarettes?
The "gay gene"?
A penchant for buggery.
