An eatery in South Florida bit off more than it could chew when a veteran was told his kind was not welcome.
Robert Thompson, a 20-year Navy vet who served in Iraq, visited the Old Key Lime House in Lantana, Fla., on Saturday and was told to remove a leather vest because they do not allow gangs or colors at the restaurant, WPTV reported.
The vest was covered with patches associated with his military service, such as a large patch depicting his affiliation with American Legion Post 180, according to the local NBC affiliate.

You dont see anything thats derogatory, Thompson told WPTV. You dont see anything thats intimidating. All it is, is just a bunch of bright colors.
But the manager saw it differently.
He [the manager] goes, we dont want you here, we dont like what you stand for, Thompson said. I looked at him and just went, Wow.
Thompson shared his experience on Facebook afterwards and the story took off.
As fate would have it, the owner of the restaurant and his daughter are both veterans, and the manager who made the comments was suspended, WPTV reported.
He shouldnt have been out there speaking, manager Katherine Kenyon. We apologize for that. We welcome them [bikers and veterans].

Damn! The Friday silliness is stating early! I like it!
"I prefer to believe he just couldn't dial because of...the flppers," she added, her voice trailing off.
I was also distracted by and laughed at the porpoise insert! LOL!
From the story: “As fate would have it, the owner of the restaurant and his daughter are both veterans, and the manager who made the comments was suspended, WPTV reported.”
THE RESTAURANT OWNER AND HIS DAUGHTER ARE BOTH VETERANS!!!!
It is ALWAYS critical, as an employee to learn of the background and biases of your employer so as to be as useful to them as possible...and also, at the very least, where to guard against offending! This guy stepped in it Big Time! This ranks up there in the Serious Mistakes in Career Decisions Dept.!
hahahaha!
I could never see why everyone thinks Key West is so great. The fags are everywhere, and the shallow rocky beaches suck when compared to the beaches in Naples or Fort Myers.
Not on porpoise, more like Jumped The Shark!

“suspended” How about fired?
You don’t go to Key West for the beaches. You go for the Duval Crawl! :-))
Some people cut and paste.
And don't believe in previewing before posting.
Some typos are truly hilarious, too!
Huh???
Never saw an overt gay thing there. I went to dinner in Key West....a couple of times...Maybe had a gay waiter..I don't know. Didn't care...
I would never have known about the gay thing...if someone hadn't told me.
And I've pretty good gaydar.
What?
You were in Key West and you didn’t notice much gay-ness?
Tell the truth, how many drinks had you consumed?
Ate dinner at the Conch Republic...and at Louies Backyard. The only hint of gayness was at Louies...But the food was excellent and nobody bothered me.
I did not hang around Key West....just ran in there and ate dinner..at some places I was interested in.
You are correct. It happened at a Pizza Hut. These stories are identical with the actual restaurant being different. Plus, there was no porpoise sex in the earlier story...
“You know, you can delete those teaser lines to other articles from stuff that you post. Talking about the dolphin thing.......”
Yeah, that should have its own thread.
I have been on Key West at New Years eve — wow. We were staying on a nearby key and went down to Duvall Street for the evening and night.
Not as disgusting as some gay parades but the straights were almost out numbered.
