I know of a guy that was incarcerated for several months in Mexico for having cartridges
in his vehicle when he cross the border. It took him about six months to get out.

Apparently there are many US Citizens serving time in Mexico.

Here's a piece from the US Consulate General of the US Tijuana Mexico.

Guns are Illegal in Mexico

Don't bring firearms or ammunition across the border into Mexico.

Don't carry a knife, even a small pocketknife, on your person in Mexico.

You may become one of dozens of U.S. Citizens who are arrested each month
for unintentionally violating Mexico's strict weapons laws.

If you are caught with firearms or ammunition in Mexico...

If you carry a knife on your person in Mexico, even a pocketknife . . .

Claiming not to know about the law will not get you leniency from a police officer
or the judicial system. Leave your firearms, ammunition, and knives at home.
Don't bring them into Mexico.

End

I wonder how many US Citizens are currently in Mexican prisons.

I don't know that but they do tend to arrest our people and expect their hands to be greased to get them out. Maybe his parents didn't know how the system worked until it was too late.

Had a co-worker who's son was riding on the BACK of a motorcycle, person driving had accident and yes, was drunk. Son of co-worker also arrested and spent time in jail - co-worker finally flew down there with cash, paid proper amounts to the right people and got his son out.

Bet his son never goes back there again.

This article has the following but I don’t know of any updated info.

http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/lockdown/articles/inside-a-mexican-prison-facts/

•Mexico has the largest American prisoner population outside of the United States.
In 2001, there were over 600 Americans serving time in Mexican prisons, including 48 in Nuevo Laredo.

“The US doesn’t check anyone leaving into Mexico.”

If someone owed back child support doesn’t the U.S. govt want to stop them from leaving ? And yet, free pass to Mexico, no checky at all.

This young Marine was in San Diego being treated for PTSD before winding up in a Mexican prison for making a wrong turn.

Obozo and his henchmen are fiends. Perhaps if Tahmooressi were to say that he had converted to Islam and the Mexican prison guards wouldn’t give him a prayer rug, Obozo would see to it that the Marine is returned to the US post haste.
