After being rightfully raked over the coals for negotiating with terrorists for the release of a traitorous American soldier, President Obama proudly defended his actions by stating that the United States doesnt leave a man behind.
Apparently that principle doesnt apply to Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi.
Sgt. Tahmooressi has spent the last two months in a Mexican jail for making a wrong turn and crossing the border into Mexico. He has made several pleas for help that have fallen on deaf ears.
It seems that some of the motivation for the presidents illegal trade was to distract Americans from the endless scandals plaguing his administration. Perhaps if he wouldve freed Tahmooressi his ploy wouldve been successful.
Sgt. Tahmooressi recently wrote the president asking him to do his duty as Commander-in-Chief and get him out of jail.
From Daily Mail, via Right Wing News:
Mr. President, you are my Commander in Chief. Please get me out of jail.
I want him to get involved. He was involved in helping to free a prisoner of war, and that is how I feel I am being treated.
I am able to cope right now, but I want out. This has gone on too long. I am innocent and have done nothing wrong.
Reports indicate that Tahmooressi was tortured during his time at the La Mesa prison, which makes it all the more critical to get him out now.
While he was at the La Mesa jail where he was first held he was tortured, brutalized and victimized, said Mrs Tahmooressi.
He was stripped naked and chained to a bedpost. When they undid the chains he was so weak he could not walk. At one point he was shackled to a bed with a four point restraint. That is not right. No soldier, no person should have to endure that sort of treatment.
Sadly, since President Obama doesnt seen any political benefit to getting Tahmooressi released from prison, hes likely to sit on his laurels and do nothing.
Obamas lack of action here is just further evidence of his disdain for the military, which in recent years hes made quite clear. He continues to fail at his duties as leader of the armed forces, which is all the more reason to impeach him. The bottom line is the president needs to bring this young man home now.
Please share this article if you agree that President Obama needs to take action to free Sgt. Tahmooressi from a Mexican prison right now.
B. Hussein can get a deserter and traitor out of jail, but not a good Marine.
Maybe Sgt. Tahmooressi should convert to Islam.
Dear Andrew,
If you can provide proof of your conversion to Islam and evidence that you deserted, we may be able to help.
Allahu akbar, abracadabra, etc.
Mullah Baraq
I wouldn't admit that. He's a friggin traitor to this country.
The Marines should be invading Mexico by now to get this guy out.
I did this EXACT same thing driving through El Paso in 1985. Heavy traffic, being unfamiliar with the area - drove right across the border into Mexico with a carload of stuff, including a Ruger 10/22.
I made a U-Turn as quick as I could and made a beeline back across the border. Scared the hell out of me.
Obama is a POS.
Heard a biker group is heading down to get him out, and his friend was on TV pleading his case. This whole world has run amok. Nash’s theory of equilibrium at work since there is zero at the helm.
This makes me so mad.
What happens to Mexican’s when they “accidentally” end up in the US? Look at all the assistance we give them - they are our ENEMIES - look what they do to us!
Let’s trade 5 Mexican illegal aliens for him.
It is an insult to actual US prisoners of war to characterize him as one.
He screwed up, he broke the law, and in America ignorance of the law has never been an excuse.
Are the US authorities falling down on this matter? Absolutely.
Are the Mexican authorities making too much of this? Absolutely.
Is it ridiculous for the US to move heaven and earth for an Afghanistan theater deserter while ignoring the plight of an Afghanistan theater marine? Absolutely.
If I'm a Mexican checkpoint soldier my view is simple: "Maybe this guy is not running weapons into Mexico or maybe he is. But we should not have a system where all you need to do if you get caught running guns is say 'Oops, I got lost.'"
I would hope an American border guard would think the same way.
He messed up, he's already paid an adequate price, and the US should focus on bringing him home.
But the outrage here is at a very high pitch.
Was the Sgt on military duty?
If they won't agree, I'd up the ante... trade 50 million illegal aliens for him. Whatever it takes!
Does he possess a valid passport?
What about our Border personnel, STOPPING citizens from leaving the U.S. unless they actually acknowledge they want to cross over and show their papers? This Marine would have stopped right there and never willing showed his papers.
I would love to see a privately organized rescue effort. Not involving negotiations.
“I would love to see a privately organized rescue effort. Not involving negotiations”
It could be the premise for “Expendables IV” :-)
Ah, but he broke none of America's laws. Yes, he screwed up. Many have also done so in the past with respect to this particular off-ramp. That particular screw-up shouldn't result in a jail sentence. There should be a way for someone who inadvertantly takes that exit to peforma u-turn before crossing the border. It's a bullshit design with little warning, especially if you are in heavy traffic.
I guess that's possible.
Of course, many of them could be naturalized US citizens who are from Mexico and who travel back and forth between countries.
Also many of them could be in prison on drug charges.
This sergeant is probably a serious exception from the usual.
“”Maybe this guy is not running weapons into Mexico or maybe he is. But we should not have a system where all you need to do if you get caught running guns is say ‘Oops, I got lost.’”
According to the story, he declared his weapons to the boarder guards. Gun runners don’t usually do that.
The US doesn’t check anyone leaving into Mexico.
This idiot is very likely to get a 20 year prison term!
