They requested an investigation, so it doesn't sound like solar flares.
It's most likely either a software problem, or possibly hacking or malware of some sort.
To: Alvin Diogenes
yes, is spreading. Guess who? I vote obama and his army.

Yes it does... first thing I thought when I read the headline was that MH370 (with newly programmed numbers/new paint, etc.) would be replacing another plane in the airspace when it came back up... I guess that means that I don’t believe for one minute it’s in Indian Ocean.

I was thinking more that whatever caused one airplane to disappear, could happen again.

Yep, I knew I’d find that pic here if I scrolled down the thread. It’s actually sort of amazing how many times it’s been relevant and perfectly on-point recently.

A later version of the article has additional information (my comments and questions in italics):
Air traffic control in Austria described the incidents as "unprecedented".I don't think they would have said this if they thought solar flares were the cause.
Both incidents in Austria lasted 25 minutes. That's enough time for a jetliner at cruising speed to travel more than 200 miles.
The incidents affected 13 planes.Does this means 13 planes total, or 13 planes in each incident?
Similar incidents happened at air traffic control in Munich, Karlsruhe, and Prague. Were these separate incidents, or did planes disappear in Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic at the same time?
To: Alvin Diogenes
It seems it is possible that this was a radio communications problem triggered by solar flares. We’ll need to wait for a resolution on this.
