Heroin seized at YVR, two men arrested One of the men worked in the cargo warehouse Sonia Aslam June 11, 2014 1:03 pm
RICHMOND (NEWS1130) - Its one of the largest drug seizures at Vancouver International Airport in recent history.
Two men have been arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking after 35 kilograms of heroin were seized. The drugs were hidden amongst other goods.
The investigation was a coordinated effort between the RCMP, Vancouver Police, and the Canada Border Services Agency.
One of the men worked in the cargo warehouse at the airport but police wont say what tipped them off.
Assistant Commissioner Wayne Rideout says the investigation isnt done. We are looking at further investigations, further arrests are possible but at this time, I think Ill leave it at that.
Police also wont speculate on how much this drug bust is worth.
Our estimation is that seizure may result in as much as 1 million single doses of heroin on the streets, says Rideout.
The drugs originated in South Asia and were intended to be sold in Vancouver. It [the heroin] has different values in different jurisdictions and it also depends on the purity of the heroin, etc. But I can tell you the current street value price for one-point which is 0.1 of a gram in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver is $20.
Forty-two-year-old Randy Norman Per and 34-year-old Tenny Guon Lim are expected to appear in court on July 8th.
Vancouver Canada is about 35 miles north of the US border. I think around Burlington area. Needless to say, Washington state also has an epidemic heroin problem.
Welcome to Obama's America.
This stuff is being flown in everywhere. Almost 80 lbs of pure heroin that was flown into Vancouver has been seized. It is worth about $11 Million in street value. Washington State and Vermont are some of the hardest hit states.
“The heroin crisis in Washington state has reached the level of a state emergency.
The situation here is no different than in Vermont, where Gov. Peter Shumlin spent the entirety of his state address on the crisis of heroin and drug-related crime that threatens our safety and compromises our quality of life. I applaud his courage, honesty and proposed plan.”

The FEDS are MIA.
Yeah, because nobody ever did heroin until Obama became the President of Canada...

Um, Vancouver is on the west coast, about 140 miles north of Seattle by google driving directions. I believe you are thinking of Montreal. Which is due north of Burlington VT.
What!!!???!!! How could that possibly be? Washington has legalized marijuana! (sarc/off)
Getting re-elected to the Senate isn't cheap.
There is also a Burlington WA.
and apparently a vancouver in ontario ... I am properly chastised.
I suppose there is a Burlington in every state where the rail road went!
Vancouver’s heroin problem is worse than Seattle’s. And that’s saying something.
NY State is another border state with serious problem.
I’m in Miami and Florida hasn’t seen as much as other states. We did have major “pain management” centers with legal drugs distributed. I think they stopped the Rx opiate centers once it started causing a lot of problems.
The media has been saying that the heroin epidemic was caused by government restrictions on Rx narcotics. I don’t understand how the FDA gets away with approving drugs that they know were introduced under false pretense and are known to have destroyedmmany lives, but i don’t believenthatmwas themproblem.
From what I saw it was always the supply that influenced use. In the 80’ and 90’s there was cocaine, and since there really was a war on drugs, it was too expensive for curious kids.
The DEA was in Colombia burning coca fields, dealers as well as bankers were thrown in jail daily. Federal agencies made daily offshore interceptions of drugs before they got into the country and that was before Homeland Security and NSA’s freakish spying abilities. Marijuana was readilly available and that was the drug of choice for most kids.
Even then Hollywood movies glamorized drug use. Remember the movie “10”, a “perfect” woman smoked pot.
Now they’re after children. An example of the “drug legalization” campaign is children’s comic book created touting the virtues of drug use.
As disturbing as the comic book may seem it is likely that more harm has been done by the “journalists” on payroll presenting deceptive “drug legalization benefits” talking points as factual news.
Here is another cargo seized in Edmonton Canada. The article claims criminal organization in Vancouver are responsible.
