WASHINGTON Fellow conservative lawmakers are now turning up the heat on Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, the former chairman of the Republican Study Committee, to throw his hat into the ring for House majority leader.
The move comes as two current members of the GOP leadership California Rep. Kevin McCarthy and Texas Rep. Pete Sessions are already whipping support for themselves.
I am hopeful that Jim Jordan will reconsider and understand, as I believe, he is called by history to stand up to this, Iowa Rep. Steve King told The Daily Caller in an interview on Thursday.
Conservatives have been pushing Jordan to enter the race over the last few days, according to sources, but he has been reluctant to pull a trigger on a run.
I dont know that there is a better available candidate than Jim Jordan, King said. He is a full spectrum, constitutional conservative, fiscal and social.
Laying out the pro-Jordan argument, King said: He commands the respect of the whole conference; hed be an ideal candidate for majority leader; hes never advocated for amnesty.
The Daily Caller has requested an interview with Jordan.
Conservatives are scrambling to find someone to run after Texas Rep. Jeb Hensarling announced Thursday that he will not enter the contest.

Yes.
Could not have a better guy, and I’m proud to call him a friend from the district right next to mine.
After the earthquake defeat of that RINO Cantor, a conservative must
step up and run for leadership.
A conservative MUST be given this leadership post, or a huge
revolt will explode.
Unless of course, we want someone who won’t cave to fags and will shove them back in the closet...
LS...are you hearing anything on the ground about the situation? Did Hensarling make a personal decision to drop out or is the pressure just too much for the conservative block to make a stand here? Are they still motivated to find someone to run?
Thought I’d ping you to this article as it concerns Jim Jordan who we were discussing earlier.
I’m largely unfamiliar with him but he seems to be respected among conservatives in the House and also here on FR.
Jump in, Jordan.
Jim Jordan is arguably the most full spectrum conservative in the House. He would be right on the issues.
The most important thing that I think he’d do is work like all get out to prevent a lame duck session approval of a comprehensive immigration reform bill. And the lame duck is the most likely time for Boehner to try to fulfill his promise to crony corporatists.
The Chamber of Commerce makes a huge mistake going after amnesty. They will alienate conservatives for decades, and the democrats only want money from them all the time, 24/7.
They would be wise to have Boehner back down.
Thanks for the info.
How is he at articulating conservative positions? It’d be rough. The media is merciless where it comes to Republicans in general, and even worse where conservatives are concerned.
Jordan is being merciless with the FBI director
Jordan was a 4 time wrestling champion in the state of Ohio, 2 time NCAA, and he has defeated an Olympic gold medalist. He’s sort of scrappy.
McCarthy doesn’t fix the problem. He’s got to go.
No, I’m totally out of the loop now. Haven’t done anything since 2012, and honestly, want to stay away from it all except to vote.
