Nancy Pelosi: Iraq not our responsibility
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | June 12, 2014 | By Carolyn Lochhead

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi made it clear Thursday that she would oppose renewed U.S. intervention in Iraq, which is under assault from Sunni forces sweeping down from the north.

The San Francisco Democrat said at her weekly press conference that there is “no appetite in our country to be engaged in any military activity in Iraq.”

“I don’t think this is our responsibility,” Pelosi said of the recent violence. “I do think we were irresponsible going into Iraq for a variety of reasons.”

At her press conference, Pelosi also expressed scorn for defeated House Majority Leader Eric Cantor.

“I have as much sympathy for Mr. Cantor as he would want me to have for him,” Pelosi said.

Asked if Cantor’s defeat had prompted other incumbents to fear for their jobs, Pelosi said Republicans have made the House “an unsafe place for children and other living things. I don’t think this is making it any worse.”

IOW, all those soldiers who gave their lives to give Liberty to the people of Iraq, died in vain.

I suppose all the killed and wounded Americans and allies aren't their responsibility either.

Go wash your hands, bitch, they have blood on them.

he was released “for unknown reasons” in 2009

What makes that cow think Pelosi is funding Bush' war? Pelosi supports the Taliban and Al-Qaeda just like her soul mate B. Hussien.

The illegal “chilrun” obama is dumping along the border aren’t our responsibility either — chuck em back across immediately.

Neither was Syria but our President didn’t seem to have an issue bombing them to protect his precious militant sand diggers.

Who’s side is this guy on?

The reality is that yes - American soldiers died in vain in Iraq.

I supported the war and got off on being an arm chair general. Now I find that I was sadly mistaken. The Neocons talked Bush into the war without thinking about the strategic implications (Iraq checked Iran in the Middle East chess game). Nation building was a scam to justify our involvement, sucking our treasure down an Islamic black hole.

The current resident of the White Hut I am sure is enjoying this strange turn of events. I will pray to God that the souls of our fallen are at his side and that the hearts of their families are given additional healing.

“I do think we were irresponsible going into Iraq for a variety of reasons.”

Yet she voted to authorize it.

Let’s not forget our role in Egypt either. The people eventually threw out Obama’s Muslim Brotherhood.

The number one tenet of a liberal is ‘take responsibility for nothing.’

There are several thousand Americans still in Iraq. The only troops that have been sent in so far are Iranian. What do you think they will do to Americans when they find them. Evacuate all Americans now before hundreds are taken hostage. You only have a limited amount of time. We have no US air bases in Iraq. Most cities are landlocked. Wake up you idiots !

Nation building was not the primary reason.

Did you forget that both parties believed for years that Saddam was involved in getting WMD's?

All intel services throughout the world, the Clintonites in the 90's, and the UN all believed the same.

Even the inspectors said that had Saddam been allowed to remain in power he would have pursued WMD's.
