Pentagon: Iraqi rebels may have captured US military equipment

The Pentagon Thursday said Islamic militants in Iraq might have captured U.S. equipment and vehicles as an al-Qaeda linked group advanced toward Baghdad.

Members of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), which has seized control of two major cities, have been posting pictures on Twitter, claiming to have taken equipment given or sold by the U.S. to the Iraqi army.

ADVERTISEMENT A defense official said claims the group had captured a U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter were wrong, but that Humvees and armored vehicles might have fallen into the militants' hands.

"I don't have any indication that the reports of them getting Humvees from Mosul are false," said the official.

"It's something that we are consulting the Iraqi government on, as part of our overall consultations with them to get a clear picture of what's happening," the official added.

And the whole WAR on Terror was turning in our favor when we won Iraq...but then obama said, “Oh, its all done...”and got out. On purpose. For purely political reasons.

Baloney.

The "War on Terror" was lost when the U.S. allowed the Iraqi government to adopt a constitution in which Islam is enshrined as the official state religion.

There was no War on Terror, dude. "Islam is a religion of peace" and all that bullsh!t -- remember?

As jihadists take aim at Baghdad, Iran steps in to help historical foe

Iran is coming to the aid of its historic nemesis, sending elite fighters to Iraq in the wake of a Sunni insurgency that has claimed two key northern cities and now threatens Baghdad, Fox News has learned.

Some 150 fighters from the Revolutionary Guards elite Quds force have already been dispatched by Tehran, and the division’s powerful commander, Qassem Suleimani, met with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki Thursday and pledged to send two notorious Iranian brigades to aid in the defense of Baghdad. That could amount to as many as 10,000 soldiers sent to fight the Sunni group known as Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS).

Maliki is believed to be considering the offer, especially in light of reported decisions by the U.S. to reject his request for American airstrikes.

Just as Obama intended.

OBama supplied them with US military hardware for Syria and then they used it in Iraq

Obama screwed that up...He didn’t even TRY to deal with Iraq. That is a red herring, dude. Obama used that and other points as “excuses’to not negotiate.

But the reality is you can’t negotiate if we don’t fight to WIN.

Yep. We’ve been buffing up this stateless horde of jihadists from North Africa to Syria, and now they have a State. Sort of. Arab Spring my ... donkey.

What happens when Asymmetrical Warfare turns back into Symmetrical Warfare?

I pray for the day. We'll absolutely dominate, especially in the desert.

That is correct. We have not won a war since WWII. Desert Storm was just a battle.

The current mess in Iraq and Afghanistan is most assuredly the fault of the Commander in Chief that sent us over there in 2003. There was zero chance of making a modern democracy in a Muslim country.

GW Bush did horrific damage both at home and abroad. It is time for his supporters to admit he was a rotten President, worse than Clinton.

He did plenty of damage but only a total moron would think he was worse than Clinton. Bush didn't start wars to distract from his personal domestic problems.

Well, duh! I wonder what the Pentagon and White Hut will say when Iraq falls to the insurgents and ALL of the U.S. equipment we gave them is now owned by the enemy?

Obama and his ‘brain trust’ are the ones who lost Iraq (and will lose Afghanistan). Of course the Donkeys and MSM will blame Bush (and the GOPee Establishment will nod agreement so they won't be called racists).

Yeah, but ow many of those primitives know how to fly a helicopter?

These things ought to come with a “self-destruct” feature, where flipping a lot of switches randomly makes the computer believe that you don’t know what you are doing and blows itself up.

Remember that mighty military we had in Desert Storm? The tanks, jets and Bradleys were used up in Iraq and Afghanistan. Except for the ones Obama left for his Muslim buddies. But remember Bush put them there. Over a trillion dollars wasted. Thousands of GIs died, thousands more lost limbs.

Any student of history should have known Islam and western style democracy are incompatible. There was no end game. HW Bush had a well laid out plan with a clearly stated goal. It worked magnificently.

GW Bush told us we would be there for decades. The stupidity of that war combined with nominating insane warhawk McCain opened the door for Hussein the usurper.

Then add the domestic idiocy. The Department of Reichland Security. TSA. The Patriot act. Teddy Kennedy's education bill. Medicare part D so LBJ wouldn't bring home all the entitlement accolades to Texas. The light bulb ban. CO2 is a pollutant. A promise to sign an assault weapons ban if Congress was dumb enough to pass one.

Bush started his own Viet Nam war without a stated goal or end game, and left the mess for his successor. Only he expected to keep getting our GIs killed for fifty years.

I must be a moron for noticing all this.

There’s no getting around the fact that you never had radical Islamic militias like this running around in Iraq when a ruthless dictator like Saddam Hussein was there to deal with them.
