NRA mouthpiece Wayne LaPierre quiet as Oregon high school shooter revealed to conceal AR-15 rifle

The teen fatally shot Emilio Hoffman, 14, and injuring a teacher before killing himself. Why he would go on a shooting spree using the same weapon as Sandy Hook mass murderer Adam Lanza is a mystery, cops said Wednesday. All the while, the NRA remains unusually quiet.

The killer carried the murder weapon in a guitar case and used it to score a tragic and all too familiar tune in yet another American school — but there’s been nary a peep from the National Rifle Association.

It’s like Wayne LaPierre, the NRA mouthpiece, has a sudden case of lockjaw.

Never mind that Jared Padgett, the 15-year-old Oregon high school student who killed a fellow freshman and wounded a teacher before offing himself, was armed with an AR-15 rifle.

Never mind that Adam Lanza used the same type of rifle in December 2012 to slaughter 20 first-graders and six staffers at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

Never mind that Padgett, like Lanza, got his rifle from “the family home.”

And never mind that like Lanza, Padgett was obsessed with guns and violence and TV shows like “Ultimate Weapons.”

LaPierre stayed silent even though this was the 74th school shooting in the U.S. since the Newtown massacre. Six students at the University of California at Santa Barbara — three shot and three stabbed — were slaughtered last month.

But the gun group tweeted out a link to a post in the right-wing National Review on Wednesday that appeared to sum up their arrogant stance.

It said, in essence, that what happened in Oregon won’t change its policy on gun control “despite all of the chatter from the White House and beyond.”

The NRA has not responded to repeated requests for comment from the Daily News. And contrary to form, it has largely remained silent since the Santa Barbara shootings just over two weeks ago.

While it was not known if the Padgett family belonged to the NRA, they were all hunters, classmate Mackenzie Arellano told the Daily News. “He loved guns,” said Arellano, 15. “He loved to go hunting with his parents. I always assumed he was just hunting animals. Not half of the student body.”

Padgett’s political bent also was in line with the NRA. His Facebook likes include groups like “Conservative American Military Veterans Against Barack Obama” and “We WILL NOT Be Disarmed.”

Also, on the same day as the Sandy Hook massacre, Padgett’s brother-in-law, Andrew Cooper, posted some snarky advice for Obama on Facebook. “SAVE LIVES; advise the states to employ at least 2 specially trained police officers to constantly patrol all school campuses from kindergarden through all colleges. Duh.”

Cooper could not have predicted that on Tuesday, his young brother-in-law would be trading shots with school resource officers Nick Thompson and Kyle Harris in the hallway of Reynolds High School.

Friends said Padgett gave no sign he was about to snap.

“When you hear about other school shootings, you think something’s wrong with them, mentally,” classmate Victoria Cox, 15, said. “I never noticed anything like that with him.”

There were other revelations about the killer:

- Padgett was from a military family and a platoon leader in the high school’s Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps.

- His parents were divorced and he never got over it. “He said his mom left him, didn’t care about him,” said 16-year-old classmate Chava Hernandez.

- Padgett was a deacon at the Mormon church his dad attended.

- In addition to the assault rifle, Padgett was armed with a semiautomatic handgun and a large knife, neither of which he used, police said.

He also had nine magazines stuffed in a duffel bag holding dozens of rounds of ammo — enough to cause even more carnage.

- Padgett might have done just that had it not been for teacher Todd Rispler, who sounded the alarm despite being grazed in the hip. The teen was then chased by Harris and Thompson into a bathroom where he killed himself.

A gunman walked into the high school gym with a rifle and shot a student to death on Tuesday before he was found dead in a bathroom stall, in the third outbreak of gun violence to shake a U.S. high school or college campus in less than three weeks.

But the cops arrived too late to save Emilio Hoffman, 14, who was in the locker room when Padgett opened fire and killed him.

“We have not established any link between the shooter and the victim,” Troutdale Police Chief Scott Anderson said.

In a statement, Hoffman’s mother, Jennifer, said “anyone who has ever met Emilio laughed with him.” Hoffman will be remembered at a memorial that will take place during Thursday’s graduation ceremony. Adam Lanza used the Bushmaster version of the AR-15 in December 2012 to slaughter 20 children and six staffers at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

Rispler, who sparked the lightning quick lockdown of the school and its 2,800 students, was home recovering with his wife and two kids.

“They just stitched him up,” brother-in-law Jeff Nelson told The Oregonian. “I don’t think any bones were hit. It’s a blessing.”

Meanwhile, police revealed that a gun-toting man found near the high school after the shooting was 21-year-old Joseph Powell. He told cops he had raced to the school to protect his sister, who is a freshman. Powell was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

Never mind that Padgett, like Lanza, got his rifle from “the family home.

German Jews prior to World War II turned in their weapons as demanded by Hitler the Fuhrer. These were the same loyal German citizens that fought and died for the Kaiser in World War I.

That worked out real well for those loyal German Jews. They died.

Firearms in the hands of citizens and not criminals will occasionally be used in a crime. Guns in the hands of an oppressive government will always be used in a crime against loyal citizens. The real question is do you trust your neighbor or do you trust a corrupt government that has no respect for The Constitution and actually wants to destroy The Constitution?

I’m aghast no one noticed the frightening and eerily similar weapons were used to murder some 800 people last year and we have made almost no progress in preventing the use of hands and feet as tools to snuff another’s life.

Theses copycat weapons look amazingly like my own soft hands and running stumps....

Serenity Now!!!

Virtually all of these shootings have occurred in gun free zones.

The teen was then chased by Harris and Thompson into a bathroom where he killed himself.

School resource officers were there to confront the killer. Just like Wayne recommends.

"Why would LaPierre need to say anything?"

Silence can often be the loudest statement of all. Yet in the last year the NRA seems to have toned downed it's " cold, dead fingers" rhetoric. Has Holder and/or the NSA gotten to Mr. LaPierre?

***The MSM is ecstatic that an AR was finally used in a mass shooting again. ***

Estatic? Harry Tracy did more damage with a 30-30 Winchester in 1902! He piled up dead lawmen like cordwood.

This shooter wannabe in Oregon only murdered one.

That is it!
The final straw!
All military weapons must be melted down and cast into a giant statue of something.
Police, military and Obama and all his thousands of machine guns and billions of rounds of ammo, etc.
Turn them all in President Gun-Nut-In-Chief.
And all vehicle makes and models used in violent crimes to be banned and destroyed.
It is for the children!
And if Obama disarms himself and his minions, it will set a good example and garner positive world opinion.

...Jared Padgett, the 15-year-old Oregon high school student who killed a fellow freshman and wounded a teacher before offing himself, was armed with an AR-15 rifle.

Never mind that up until relatively recently, AR-15s were lagal throughout the U.S.
Never mind that there are hundreds of thousands of legal AR-15s in the U.S.
Never mind that 99.9% of them are never used in crimes.

Should we outlaw Toyotas and Hondas because the figure in many gang shooting deaths?

How about Louisville Sluggers?

Fascist screed.

Almost all school shooters were using
Psychotropic drugs (SSRI).

These mind altering drugs were prescribed by shrinks.

A study using Factor Analysis would demonstrate
and identify complex interrelationships among items

They’re really gonna come after us rifle owners now. Obama and Bloomberg perceive it’s their last shot, so to speak. I guarantee any nationwide confiscation effort WILL spark a civil war, and people WILL DIE, more than die now in their welfare hellholes and “gun-free” zones.

As Actress Lee Grant said, the day after Reagan was shot, on GMA.
“The NRA is a rifle organization! They should give up their handguns and they can KEEP their rifles!”

Five years later the call to ban semi-auto rifles began.

Several years ago a wacko in NYC left his apartment with an M-1 Garand. He fired ONE SHOT, killed one man and was arrested.

The New York Times had a large editorial calling for the ban on semi-auto rifles.

Pretty much everywhere is a gun free zone until one of these cshmups shows up...

What I wonder about is why there have not been too many instances where a law abiding citizen is there to make the attempt to stop that schmup from continuing the murder spree???

Of course these 3 keyboard commandos would bring up the fact that at least two people I have heard of who fit that bill have died in trying to stop attacks like this...

2005, Mark Alan Wilson (Tyler, Texas)

And recently the attacks on the Law Enforcement officers in Las Vegas...

These two citizens gave their lives, not willingly, but probably never expected for that to happen, but it is a risk some of us accept, but not to strive for...

The true cowards among us in this country (propagandist/journalists, liberal narrative supporters...) want everyday to have incidents where someone of lesser convictions decides to take as many people out as possible, and when confronted, take their own life when they cannot continue that murder spree...

Nothing seems to be able to penetrate this farce...

At least the small community of people who actually do understand the true meaning of the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, do so with a high degree of conviction, attitude, and in some cases, a continued service to their home, neighborhood, community, state and country...

At the end of the day...Even through all of this nonsense that is fed to the ill-informed masses...

We will still have our guns...

that will never change...

What passes for commentary on their website, if it were available, in my opinion, is a waste of time, and effort...

You are much better off letting them live in their little dream world...

We will be the shocking reality when someone decides to act upon their sensibilities...

At which point our side won’t be doing much commenting...
