Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Says It Will No Longer Fund Abortion
Breitbart Big Government ^ | 12 Jun 2014 | Dr. Susan Berry

Melinda Gates, of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, has announced that her international family planning foundation will no longer fund abortion because she believes abortion and family planning have become “conflated.”

Gates, wife of the Microsoft founder and a self-professed Catholic, said in a statement on the foundation’s website, titled Impatient Optimists, that she grew concerned about the intertwining of family planning and abortion recently when she was interviewed in Toronto.

Though reporters asked her about the Gates Foundation’s newborn and child health initiatives, she said, “every journalist also focused on Canada’s policy on abortion.” “Let me tell you why this worries me,” she said.

“Around the world there is a deep, broad, and powerful consensus: We should provide all women the information and tools to time and space their pregnancies in a safe and healthy way that works for them,” Gates explained. “This approach is simple, it works, and it saves lives.”

abortion and family planning have become “conflated.”

As in having blurred meanings? Sure, if planning a family means planning to eliminate it altogether.

I’m glad she is listened to by her husband. Next thing you know shell start promoting a return to Christian based prayer in schools. Some pendulum swings are top down actions.

She is not doing anything moral here.

She is trying to keep pushing birth control, which fails and this REQUIRES abortion, while saying she’s not going to talk about abortion.

I’m going to eat 23 hamburgers and talk about my great protein intake and stop “conflating” it with the ‘distracting’ talk of obesity!

She’s still killing babies and at exactly the same rate .....and has killed off “the next Bill Gates” a thousand times over by preventing his conception in the way God specifically designed his conception to be....naturally.

Odd that she just noticed that she was providing abortions.

Revelation perhaps?

A little late to find your conscience isn’t it, Melinda?
That said, this is still good news. Better late than never.

Good that she won’t fund abortion. However, there are still a lot of other immoral stuff in “family planning” from a Catholic perspective.

Good. Now, from the article, the Gates' now need to stop doing more:

The foundation has also recently been regularly in the news in the United States as the primary source of funding for the Common Core standards...

Yep, you said it. This woman has no idea about the sh*t storm that’s going to be unleashed on her.

Good luck, Mrs. Gates, you’re going to need it.

She is trying to keep pushing birth control, which fails and this REQUIRES abortion, while saying she’s not going to talk about abortion.

Oh, please. The failure rate of contraceptives is less than 5%. For some contraceptives, the failure rate is less than 1%. That means that contraceptive use leads to far fewer pregnancies than using nothing at all.

And you insult women by assuming that every single woman who has contraceptive failure hurries to have an abortion. If she is bothering to use contraceptives, chances are, she is not and never was pro-abortion. To assume that she would suddenly change is to say that you do not think women are capable of having principles.

I, for one, think this is a fantastic development.

It is very upsetting to me when I read that some “human rights” group or the UN wants to bring abortion to some third world area where access to medical care doesn’t even exist. Really? All these groups can think of when they contemplate the dire conditions that these people live in is how to exploit these women?

It is far better to bring them actual medicine and the means to decrease the incidence of pregnancy. The goal should be to improve lives, not to exploit women for profit by killing their babies.

My thoughts as well. But this is at least primarily their own money, not donations from individuals and corporations, so the leftists will have to protest against them directly.

That's a lot harder in this case than the usual Alinsky tactic of going after the weakest links or "middlemen" ("identify, isolate, and freeze" or something like that) as they did to the Susan Komen Foundation. There are no picture-perfect venues like the Race For The Cure events to swarm and shut down. Bill Gates has no obvious ties to the right to exploit. Garage bands aren't already donating a portion of their album & T-shirt sales to the Gates, so that local-level rage isn't available either.

So go ahead, Hollywood, and Michael Bloomberg, and garage bands, and NOW. Tweet and bray on TV and write your own checks; you're just noise to one of the richest guys in the world.

“nd has killed off “the next Bill Gates” a thousand times over by preventing his conception in the way God specifically designed his conception to be....naturally.”

Equating a woman using the pill; with her killing a baby; is wrong in so many ways.

Oh, please yourself. The Supreme Court in the Casey decision, said flat out that abortion was necessary as back-up birth control if contraception failed.

Your failure rates are dandy. Now stop to think that a 1% failure rate still means a whole lot of pregnancies in a large population? Also, your 1% number assumes perfectly compliant patients; which most people, especially kids, aren't. Pushing contraception on people also results in a lot more illicit sex, which results in a lot more contraceptive failures, which results in a lot more abortions.

Planned Parenthood isn't stupid. They make their money -- a lot of money -- off abortion. They also push contraception on kids. Why? Because they know very well that one leads to the other.

As with many posts on this action by Melinda, that post was simply an opportunity for us to see into the posters psyche.

I’d mark it up to an all consuming hatred of any thing Gates.
