Social media sites, including Facebook and Twitter, were down in Iraq Friday as the country’s Communications Ministry blocked access to them.

The Iraqi Ministry of Communications also notified citizens in a Facebook post Friday night local time that the Internet would be cut off on Sunday “in all parts of Iraq” to maintain optical cable along the Turkish border. It did not address reports that social media was inaccessible.

Baghdad-based BBC reporter Richard Galpin said Friday that Facebook, Twitter and YouTube were blocked in the Iraqi capital.

A Communications Ministry source confirmed the shutdown to the Kuwait News Agency, but did not give a reason for the blockage...

A three word text was released from inside the Embassy about six hours ago: “Too late Alamo.” That message is open to interpretation.

As a Texan, I can only extract one interpretation from that message. We are under siege, and we can get out or get reinforcements. Just what else could it mean? Maybe a code?

“We need to repair the cable...”

Sure!

I’m sure that NO ONE there is gearing up to look okay to the next, more socially-conservative (and bloody) Regime..?

Ah. So the situation is well in had.

FNC has also been scrolling across the bottom of the screen that Ubama is spending the weekend at the Rancho Mirage, CA home of his interior decorator and is being briefed by Susan Rice.

I take it as - ‘we are under seige, enemy is at the gates, if you do not intervene, we will make our last stand (like the Alamo)’. Chilling if true.

Yes, O Drama has plans to vote present with Iran, and encourage them to take up the fight for Shiite Malieki, and the Iraqi Army. Maybe they will plan a golf date....like Putin’s visit to TX with Bush.

Hard to imagine this scenario as even a possibility 10 years ago....this buzzhead squandered a win, and allowed it to turn into chaos...what he does best.
