Totally Unworthy Liberal Icons
Jewish World Review ^ | June 15, 2014 | Alicia Colon

There was a time when we would honor symbols of excellence that had some significant achievements that deserved our adulation. Whether it be enormous talent, superior intelligence, political or business success, etc. there would be something in the makeup of one's character that generated praise. I am having a very difficult time figuring out now why so many liberal icons come up short on substance unless it's thanks to media dishonesty. Two of the most dubious icons who continue to garner liberal endorsements are Jane Fonda and Hillary Clinton.

Last week Jane Fonda was presented with the American Film Institute's 42nd Life Achievement Award at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. For the life of me I can't imagine why. Did she get it for her Academy Award for Klute; her exercise videos; for looking great at 76; or for being a traitor? Let's face it; the Academy Awards are no longer about quality in performances. After all, Lee Marvin got it for a comedy western instead of Rod Steiger who gave an outstanding performance in The Pawnbroker. Julia Roberts received hers in 2000 for Erin Brokovich for cursing and showing her bra straps instead of Ellen Burstyn who acted her heart out in Requiem for a Dream. Fonda's award for Best Actress was given before she committed treason by giving aid and comfort to the enemy on her visit to Hanoi in 1972. I'm sure the sycophants who gushed about her at the AFI show were either ignorant of her past or diehard Kool-Aid-drinkers. I've lost respect for all of them.

The popularity of her exercise videos may be due in part for the fact that most of those who bought the videos had no idea who "Hanoi Jane" was thanks to the mainstream media muting her past....

I thought Paul Newman was a fairly honest liberal, but I may be prejudiced a bit because my Mom went to hs with him.

All were dyed-in-the-wool lefties as far as I could tell who knew very well what Hanoi Jane had done,

We gotta blame that one on Rush.

Without him, she’d just be another low paid California ambulance chaser.

Now she’s on the November ballot for State Senate

Who's a worthy liberal icon?

The few who could be placed in that category later became conservatives; most notably, Ronald Reagan.

I just didn’t like that movie at all - Requiem for a Dream. I was glad to see Julia win at the time. She was a nice person then....now? Debatable sometimes.

The article starts off with hanoi jane’s completely void acting career and asks the question “lifetime achievement of what?”

It then asks the same question of hitlery klintoon. The author’s conclusion is ALMOST correct. Hers is:

“The reality is that Hillary would never have achieved anything of substance on her own if she hadn’t been married to Bill.”

The correct statement (with all due respect) is:

“The reality is that Hillary would never have achieved any POSITION of substance on her own if she hadn’t been married to Bill.”

hitlery has never achieved anything of substance.

Jane Fonda also helped cripple the nuclear power industry.

Thomas Jefferson is a worthy liberal icon. He was certainly no liberal in the current corrupt sense of the word but he’s an icon for them.

Absolutely correct! I think I made that statement about Hillary a couple of days ago. She rode in on Bill's back and now she is on her own and makes a fool out of herself every time she opens her mouth.

Isn’t Ted Kennedy considered a liberal icon? Where’s his headstone at? I gotta take a leak.

Whatevers left of Jane Fonda's soul will stand before God, one day soon.

It will be an interesting judgement to observe...for those of us who believe in human souls, and in final judgement.

Getting your face on a urinal sticker and having them stuck in urinals across the country makes one an icon and worthy of an award
