General Motors Co., in the latest recall related to ignition-switch flaws, is calling back about 3.2 million more vehicles and said recall-related charges would reach $700 million in the second quarter.

That’s because GM now stands for Government Motors and now GM is just another bloated, incompetent government bureaucracy - but now one run by the unions.........
GM is officially, and permanently, off my list for new vehicles.
GM sold 9.71 million vehicles last year.
Now they have recalled more than two years of production, by the numbers.
20 million is GM’s total production for 7 years.

I've had to replace three of those for reasons of simply not working -- to stopping in an "OFF" position that actually drains the battery.
For security, (difficult to "hotwire") the idea makes sense. But GM has been making the things since (at least) the 80's. You'd think they would figure out how to get them right by now...
Spend half an hour online researching the history of the Soviet auto industry, and then ask yourself, why is ANYONE surprised?
