IRS Head Koskinen Lied About 'Lost' Lerner Emails

Scandal: In testimony last March, the IRS chief told Congress that the now-allegedly irretrievable emails were not immediately available because they were safely stored offline. Maybe the NSA can help find them?

Rep. Darrell Issa's House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed IRS Commissioner John Koskinen to testify June 23 about Lois Lerner's suddenly lost emails. One of the topics is expected to be his prior contradictory congressional testimony.

Koskinen testified about the emails at an Oversight hearing in March and, as investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson notes, gave quite the opposite impression from the current storyline that has every computer nerd in America rolling on the floor laughing.

Koskinen said the reason that requested emails were difficult to provide was that IRS emails "get taken off and stored in servers." He failed to mention any Lerner hard-drive crash that allegedly occurred long before, only to be divulged in this administration's habitual Friday data dump of unpleasant news.

Was he lying then or is he lying now? Federal law requires that such records be archived and accessible — particularly records subject to congressional investigation — and that the destruction or loss of any such records be authorized according to the law and reported to the archivist of such records. Someone is either lying or has broken the law big time, or both.

"They are badly mistaken."

Really? I hope you are right but I think you are not.

Making minor adjustments to the IRS budget as some in the House are trying to do won’t affect them. Senate democrats will restore them and I doubt the House GOP is ballsy enough to face a government shutdown to keep the cuts. A better plan is to put the head of the IRS and Louis Lerner in the House jail until he produces the emails and she testifies.

Someone is either lying or has broken the law big time, or both.

At this point it's unmistakably both. The law is very clear on this, and every federal (and state) employee is briefed in detail on it. If Lerner didn't provide her emails to the archivist in one form or another, she should go to prison.

There is a breaking point.

The tradition is to leave past Administrations alone.

Current Events "DICTATE" otherwise.

Jail will work wonders in getting him to come clean.

Perhaps we could plant a rifle in the trunk of his car and entice him to visit Tijuana.
