Well selling off the farm and other stuff to the Chinese for the sake of having an open and free market is one thing. Ideologically it’s all fine and good if the rest of the world does the same but opening up markets or selling off assets in an environment that is not a level playing field is stupid and not for the good of the country.

That was not for the sake of having an open and free market. Note the increase in regulations and taxation that came concurrent with that, eliminating the US free market in the process and replacing it with a sort of social market economy. It was for the sake of allowing non-market economies to assail the USA’s market.

Non-market economies and market economies (especially free market) are incompatible and irreconcilable with each other. This is the ultimate in asymmetrical warfare, rather; reminiscent of Sun Tzu’s admonition to “take the enemy’s country whole and intact” (Art of War, III:1), with people in our government only too willing to help.

“There is a tide in the affairs of men,
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves
Or lose our ventures.”

The time for a war to control Arabia has passed. It was important, it was necessary. It was carried out improvidently, with poor tactics and even worse strategy. There is a reason that victory in war is preferable to defeat, and we are living it now.

I am actually talking about Australia but you point is taken while the reasons given may not be those in actuality. Another thing here has been that being an Island our quality and bio-security of our produce has always been a big selling point but “for the sake of an open market” we now let produce into the country from areas with blight or other diseases without requiring of them the same stringent rules that apply to our own farmers. We are one of the few places on earth that does not have problems with honey bee hives yet risks are taken with that as well. Not good for the country. Also we have let large companies fail recently without the pre-planning of having something to replace them. When these companies close in a couple of years there will be employment deserts in the surrounding areas. I am all for cutting subsidies for companies but it needs to be a planned exit and not just a demolition!

I’m not a fan of GB. Just too weird for my tastes. However even a blind squirrel gets a nut every now and then. We should not fight wars we are unwilling to win. Since that seems to be just about every one we’ve involved ourselves in since WWII, we need to seriously rethink how we approach this stuff. Dear leader has done a heck of a job of ensuring that no ally actually trusts us to watch their back. So I think we’re going to end up in a more isolationist model whether we like it or not.

The founding fathers were actually pretty clear about what they thought: honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none.

“If Iran goes in to fight in Iraq, do you think they leave?”

No, they will not. And, by gaining control of Iraqi oil in addition to its own, Iran will have enough clout to shape oil cartel economics and politics in the Middle East and Europe to which most of these two countries oil flows. Say hello to Shari law Europe.....

"I quit listening to GB. He’s a flake and wannabe cult leader."

I never listened to him. He came on the same time as Neal Boortz. He was way to dramatic on TV. I did not watch.
The only thing I have in common with him is his disdain for ZERO & THE KLINTOONS. . . .

It is immoral to have people killed in a war that you have no intention of trying to win.

Bring them home. Now.

Our troops are the best in the world. They won everywhere they went. They are loyal, honorable, and distinguish by valor, dedication, and capability. The leadership they have is not worthy of such soldiers.

Let’s bring them home. Quickly.

And so they have jobs that will support their families when the military is inevitably downsized, let us put a hiatus on all immigration, legal and illegal, until each of them is employed. And so their wounds, visible and invisible, are cared for as promised by their country, let us fix the Veterans Administration by taking it out of the hands of bureaucrats and turning the medical care portion of it over to a hospital corporation.

Al Baghdadi himself said he would “see us in New York” This guy doesn’t bluff. He will attack us in this nation if he gets half a chance. Not only that—he is organized and savage. Still, I believe we should get out fast and burn the embassy when we leave. Let the Iranians meet the ISIS Army. We need not be there—and if they march on Mecca—so be it. Time to pull back and re-group for the next fight.

We should not fight wars we are unwilling to win.

I agree with you. My opinion has absolutely nothing to do with Glen Beck. It is immoral to have our troops killed in wars we have no intention of winning and no intention of allowing them to FULLY fight.

And no matter which of these sides wins in Iraq, we serve notice that a reprisal is way too easy, that we can take them out whenever we want.

Also, no matter which side wins we lose. Maliki, a Shi'ite, was ALREADY aligning quickly with Iran. It's no accident that Iran is fighting on his behalf. In fact, the Kurdish and Sunni regions of Iraq were already incensed by the fact that Maliki was stripping them of their positions and turning them over to Shi'ite replacements.

So, in my opinion, the best course for the US to pursue is to first send a clear message to the Kurds that as long as they fight for their freedom that we'll see they have the tools to fight with. So far as the Saddam Husseinites who are coming again to power in Sunni neighborhoods, let them fight the Shi'ites and take each other out.

I think we should go back to Iraq. And by we, I mean somebody else, just like the other 99% of the people who say we should have gone there in the first place. And don’t ask me to pay for it either, just tack it on to the debt.

They’re not going to destroy each other for our benefit, but for what they perceive as their benefit. It benefits Iran to destroy ISIS and it benefits ISIS to destroy Iran.

How does one more life, one more bomb, one more airplane, one more arm, leg, eye, or thousands more, stop it? We’ve been doing it for 12 years. What do you propose that we do?

[L]et us put a hiatus on all immigration, legal and illegal, until each of them is employed.

As well as the millions of other Americans who have lost jobs and/or dropped out of the labor force.

So if we destroy him, it empowers Iran. If the Iranians’ ambitions are destroyed, it empowers Al Baghdadi and ISIS. Either way, we lose, thanks to our feckless leaders. Let Iran destroy ISIS and let ISIS smash Iran in the process. Our only job is to let them kill each other and see if we can’t make their war with each other longer.

There is absolutely no question that we had succeeded and that the time honored habit of keeping our troops there to keep the peace, i.e. Germany and Japan, would have eventually given us a generation who were not wedded to Sharia.

But Obama trumpeted that we were leaving a working and successful democracy and they didn’t need us anymore. This is ALL the democrats fault and has nothing to do with President Bush.

Again, they will not destroy each other. It’s not going to happen. They will not reward the inaction, or possible foolish actions, of the “Great Satan” in that manner.
