I just checked a New York Times article from last November that reported that ONE-THIRD of European Jews were considering leaving Europe because of fears of growing anti-Semitism. But the article was somewhat dismissive, saying that "only" 4% of Jews had experienced physical violence or the threat of violence in the previous year (I did the math and that would be "only" 44,000 Jews - 4% of 1.1 million). 1.1 million is about the size of - what? - the St. Louis metro area? Would the Times be so bland if "only" 44,000 gays in a major American city were threatened with violence every year?
