They got the trademark legally. The government does not have the right to retract it.

Agreed. But the ruling has no effect on what the "Washington Redskins" choose to call themselves. The PTO ruling only allows OTHER PARTIES to call themselves "Washington Redskins" if those parties so choose.
Could this backfire? I'd think the Redskins can still use the logo, it just isn't there's exclusively. What has the nation come to when wearing a Washington Redskins logo is an act of defiance?
