Yes He Could
New York Times ^ | June 15, 2014 | by Paul Krugman

Posted on 06/18/2014 2:05:58 PM PDT by Oldeconomybuyer

Several times in recent weeks I’ve found myself in conversations with liberals who shake their heads sadly and express their disappointment with President Obama. Why? I suspect that they’re being influenced, often without realizing it, by the prevailing media narrative.

The truth is that these days much of the commentary you see on the Obama administration — and a lot of the reporting too — emphasizes the negative: the contrast between the extravagant hopes of 2008 and the prosaic realities of political trench warfare, the troubles at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the mess in Iraq, and so on. The accepted thing, it seems, is to portray Mr. Obama as floundering, his presidency as troubled if not failed.

But this is all wrong. You should judge leaders by their achievements, not their press, and in terms of policy substance Mr. Obama is having a seriously good year. In fact, there’s a very good chance that 2014 will go down in the record books as one of those years when America took a major turn in the right direction.

There are, I suppose, some people who are disappointed that Mr. Obama didn’t manage to make our politics less bitter and polarized. But that was never likely. The real question was whether he (with help from Nancy Pelosi and others) could make real progress on important issues. And the answer, I’m happy to say, is yes, he could.

What is this guy thinking? Is he insane? Does he actually still have a job despite being insane?

Good Lord in heaven, I know this man is still a human being, so why does he sound like a hyena?

Is he still wandering around NYC with a diaper and his name pinned to his t-shirt?

I have met some really crazy people but Paulie takes the cake with this one.

Paul. Go home. Get into bed. Take your meds. Don’t, not ever, call me in the morning.

This article is GOOD, not bad.

If they’re unwilling to face the truth then they still have a good ways to fall.

If we’re lucky and he doesn’t kill us all, I think it’s possible that Obama will destroy all the entire Dem party.

We have not yet even begun to enter the really freaky phase, where everyone has to get Obamacare, etc.

THEN the anger will be SKY-HIGH compared to where it is now.

People will look waaaaay down and see the top of K2.

Delusional and myopic.

He ranks Obama on just three issues. Healthcare Reform, climate change and financial reform.

He has his head in the sand on foreign policy, VA, Benghazi, immigration, IRS Scandals, the economy, unemployment, the health of the military, Fast and Furious, monitoring and intimidating the press, Holder's perjury and lack of cooperation with Congress, the IRS's lack of cooperation with Congress, and various other administration failures and scandals.

And on those two issues, he says healthcare reform is a success based on gallup polls:

Well I suppose 3% is progress, but at what cost? And are they really more insured if they have a $5000 deductible? And do they know what hospitals and doctors take their plans, if any?

On climate change policy, Obama has bypassed congress and handed down the regulations without regard for consitutional processes. And in the process he's weakened America, driven up her energy costs, driven coal plants out of business, held up keystone, and enriched middle eastern countries.

On financial reform he says reform is real..."just ask all those Wall Street types who, enraged by the new limits on their wheeling and dealing, have turned their backs on the Democrats". Well if Obama has in fact driven wall street from the arms of the Democrats, that would be one of few positives for his administration.

Krugman is like the guy who, when he was a little boy somebody told him he looked really good in a propeller-beanie, so for the rest of his life he wore propeller-beanies.

There is none so blind as he who will not see. Krugman has jumped the shark. His blind allegiance to Obama makes him an object of ridicule.
