Veteran barred from saying pledge at University of Wyoming?

An Army veteran, who served his country in Afghanistan and Iraq, barred from reciting the Pledge of Allegiance at one of our nation's universities? That's sure to raise hackles on social media.

Campus Reform reported on Cory Schroeder, a student senator at the University of Wyoming in Laramie and a six-year Army veteran, and his desire to recite the pledge before student government meetings.

The pledge is not part of the weekly routine.

Schroeder was said to have been told by "multiple" fellow senators in the Associated Students of the University of Wyoming that the subject was "very touchy" and that there was the possibility of offending two international students in the organization. He was told to write a bill seeking to add the pledge at the beginning of meetings.

This reportedly rubbed Schroeder the wrong way. Why write a bill just to recite the Pledge of Allegiance? (Efforts by The Times to reach Schroeder were unsuccessful at the time this post was published.)

The angry tweets quickly arrived on Twitter: "University of Wyoming student banned from reciting Pledge of Allegiance because it offends international students." People were advised to "STAY AWAY from the University of Wyoming" and one user wondered, "Is this the U.S.?"

“University of Wyoming student banned from reciting Pledge of Allegiance because it offends international students.”

No it doesn’t, it offends liberals.

The original pledge of allegiance did not include “Under God”. That addition was made in the 1950s.

The point is... you shouldn’t recite pledges or oaths that are constructs of man... the modern Pledge would surely include the words “One Godless Nation, under homofascist seige, with anal beads and KY for all”

Ricardo Lind-Gonzalez, ASUW vice president, was singled out in the Campus Reform article as a particular roadblock in the pledge disagreement.

They're onto you, Rico.

Well, that isn’t our Pledge - yet. Millions of us grew up reciting the Pledge and survived. I am offended when people don’t want to recite the Pledge. Who do I sue?

If I were a student in a foreign country, why would I be offended when that school shows patriotism for their own country? I shouldn’t be there if I couldn’t handle it. In fact, I would expect to witness the school and society promote and defend their country.

I noticed that nobody interviewed the 2 international students that may be offended. Who are they and which country are they from?

I think it is just more unpatriotic liberals hiding their true intentions with lies.

Ricardo Lind-Gonzalez

The name alone tells you that this person is a liberal, Hispanic, hyphenated-leftist who probably has an overbearing mother and/or a weak or absent father.

In 3rd grade we had a new kid... and he was “allowed” not to recite the pledge because his family were Jehovah’s Witnesses... which nobody knewwhat that meant other than he didn’t recite the pledge. Don’t be offended...unless they are mocking the oath or being disruptive... well... aside from my sarcastic... ahem... example.

I simply have no faith in the goodness of man anymore.

Inform people using the internet. Talk to our elected reps and we post the truth everywhere we can. Learn the truth!educate your children and grand-children and learn to answer the progressive talking points.... it’s gonna be a tough fight because the lies of the main stream media and its minnions have become entrenched in our society. don’t give up - good luck!

I’ll guaran-freaking-tee yah that the “two international students” are members of the Religion of Pieces.

As a Vietnam vet I am disgusted at a university prez invoking that same status & then passing the buck.

I mean, what does calling oneself a Vietnam vet usually mean? That you’ve seen combat & you’re not scared of penny-anti bureaucratic squabbles like this one?

The minority veto is felt once again.

”How do we take our country back?”

Lawsuits. Hundreds and hundreds of lawsuits. Against every liberal organization out there. Force the left to use their money. File suits in friendly jurisdictions and ask for immediate injunctions.

We learn from history. Look what they did to Palin in Alaska. Do the same to them. And when they whine about it, ridicule them. When the media comes to their aid, sue them and create a fairness doctrine that the media to either play fair or close their doors,

That’s how we start to take our country back. Then we need to win elections and purge voter rolls of all duplicate and deceased voters.
