Radio show hosts and political pundits are suggesting that the primary election defeat of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is the final nail in the coffin for passing immigration reform in this session of Congress. They surmise that other Republicans will be especially reluctant to tackle the issue for fear of losing political support.
If we are led to believe that the results of a local election with 12 percent voter turnout in a single congressional district (one out of 435) with a mere 65,000 votes cast is all that it takes to disrupt a necessary and important national policy debate, then America is in big troublenot just on this issue, but on a whole range of issues.
I certainly hope that is not the case.
As a Republican, its my view that efforts to complete immigration reform should be led by our party. Some on the outer fringes of the GOP may disagree, but the truth is we are humans first and partisans second. Frankly, the Democrats dont have a monopoly on having hearts.
While I do not practice or promote illegal behavior, the reality is that 11 million illegal immigrants are currently in this country. Lets face it, the United States does not have a processreal or imaginableto deport 11 million people from within our borders. Those who favor the deportation of every person here illegally must understand that this position simply is not realistic. There is no wave of a magic wand that could accomplish such a task. The proponents of amnesty are wont to create the false choice between a blanket amnesty and mass deportation of 12 to 20 million illegal aliens. In reality, we have other choices and alternatives that dont reward people who have broken our laws with the right to stay and work here and an eventual path to citizenship. The 12 to 20 million illegal aliens did not enter this country overnight and they will not leave overnight. Attrition through enforcement works. We have empirical data from Georgia, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Arizona proving that it does.
When you reward something, you get more of it.

Let us stop for a moment to consider that the origin of the present ongoing emergency is the "Immigration Reform Act of 1965."
Let us remember arithmetic, too. No matter what we do now, we are well along the path to becoming a Latin American country with a majority mestizo population. Possibly not all that great an idea. So, perhaps the longer that takes to happen, the better.
That might give us a Better chance of "Americanizing" the Hispanics, rather than the Americans being "Hispanicized."

We do have a process, it is called enforcing the LAW.
If the executive branch chooses to ignore the current laws, why would anyone believe that "passing comprehensive immigration reform" would be enforced?
Amnesty doesn't fix the problem; it exacerbates it.
Lets face reality, and close down immigration courts, throw aside “humanitarian” considerations and look after the best interests of the USA.
Give ‘em water and food, herd ‘em into box cars, and ship them to the southern border of Mexico. Kill anyone who tries to stop the train. When it gets there, wreck the engines, and extract the guards and crew.
If a country won’t take back its invading barbarians, then give ‘em a canteen, an AK, 7 loaded clips of ammo and land ‘em in Somalia.
In the US, make invaders ineligible for ANY benefits - no health care, education, housing, no civil rights protection.

All illegals caught inside our country, including those caught as they cross the border, should be fingerprinted and DNA swabbed. Those so identified should be permanently barred from any path to citizenship or to legal entry into the Untied States.
Anyone employing illegals who has not made a good faith effort to confirm legal status should be fined more than enough that there is no incentive to hire illegals instead of Americans or legal immigrants.
The 14th Amendment "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside" should be correctly interpreted - tourists who give birth while visiting are not "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" and neither are illegals. The anchor babies of non-citizens should not be interpreted to have citizenship.
Any country that wants to trade with the United States should agree to take their own criminals back and hold them in prison for the duration of their sentences. That way, instead of getting 20 years in an American prison, a foreign rapist can spend those 20 years in the prisons of his own country (at the discretion of the jurisdiction where the crime occurred).
All legal immigrants should be barred from all forms of welfare for an extended period, such as seven years.
Bilingual education should be limited to a one year introduction to English, after which all instruction should be in English. My ancestors learned English when they came here, usually marginally for the parents and well for their children, and it was the best possible choice they could have made. All government forms should be in English only. Multilingualism will otherwise divide and destroy the United States.
We should make absolutely no accommodations at all for immigrants who are offended by the American flag - except to encourage their return to the ratholes they call home.
Congress has the authority to set immigration law. Delegating that authority to criminals who come here in violation of the law is unacceptable.

Ask what they intend to do about the massive invasion of illegal aliens into Texas, bringing crime, disease, drugs and unbelievable expense to the state to care for them.

Other Texas elected officials, speaking on condition of anonymity have told Breitbart Texas that Texas does, in fact, have the resources to conduct not only a surge operation, but a prolonged border control operation that would secure the Texas border with Mexico.
Now, Perry says he will do something. I'll believe it when I see it.

The pro amnesty crowd used to use the number of 35 to 40 million illegals already here. Then, like a light switch, they all started using the number of 11 million. I think to make it seem less harmful.
If they get amnesty, which likes will happen soon, that 11 million will magically turn into 100 million.
There are 11 million in California. Who do they think they are fooling?

This administration has demonstrated why nothing can be done until the border is secured and laws enacted so we know exactly who is here.
I have said it before. The first thing to undergo a fundamental transformation with amnesty is the Democrat Party! The Dem candidates will win in formally republican majority districts only to lose next election to the south-of-border politician. Juan Ortiz-Rodriguez-Sanchez and friends were weaned on bribery and schooled in extortion. Graft is a family value to them. The new height of corruption would even make Harry Reid get vertigo. And then we will get amnesty II, amnesty III, etc.
