The New York Times reports today that "this cycle, three gay Republicans running for Congress ... are featuring their significant others in campaign ads, a first for a gay congressional candidate from either major political party." Less surprisingly: The races are in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and California, all against Democratic incumbents, and with only one facing a primary. Still!
Above is an ad from Richard Tisei in Massachusetts, featuring a photo with his husband from the couple's wedding earlier this year. "I think people need to know who I am and what Im all about," he said.
In California, an online video from Carl DeMaio features a shot of him holding hands with his partner at a pride parade:
And Dan Innis of New Hampshire, who does face a (straight) primary opponent, shows his husband and three kids in his introductory video:
While the recent progress is obvious and heartening a majority of Americans support same-sex marriage (although not a majority of Republicans nationwide) the Times notes that "no Republican has been openly gay when first elected to Congress."
... and lose most of their current votes as well. They don’t care as long as the Liberals accept them. Kind of like a beaten dog or a beaten wife in that respect.
More “Big Umbrella” crap from a party that’s losing it’s base rapidly.
They can all join the emerging “Government Party.”
Could run a marxist under the ‘pub banner and would still lose in kalifornia.
Propaganda.
WHO CARES! If they all vote against The commander in fruit in office I wouldn’t cre if they were on the first float in the gay pride parade.
Why do we need Democrats? Or why do we need two parties?
The thing that really scares Democrats about gays is that if gay marriage were off the table a lot of gays would cross over to vote Republican based on economic issues.
Exhibt A is how several weeks back Patty Murray introduced a bill in the Senate Budget Committee that takes an axe to the marriage penalty. Given that gays are presumed to be marrying (where the are allowed to by law or judicial fiat) at a greater rate (relative to % of population) than heteros due to the backlog (ok, that’s an unfortunate way to put it) from not having been previously allowed to, they’re going to run into the marriage penalty in a massive way in the next few years.
Dems know this, are frightened by it, and are trying to get ahead of it.
Now this is NOT an argument in favor of supporting gay marriage. At all. But it serves to show the complexity of political mechanics involved and that Dem are acting in a manner indicating they consider gay marrage to be a done deal and settled issue.
If the fact that they are perverts is what is important to them then they deserve no votes from American citizens..
They can all join the emerging Government Party.
GOP Party: Government Oligarch Party
this is a deliberate false flag operation.
These are fake candidates with zero chance of winning intended to remove the air from serious issues and candidates.
(ie Miss. and candidate thad)
Ya wanna back that up with some documentation. Or is it your "gut" speaking?
