The United States must respect the universal rights of the tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors illegally entering the country, according to the Salvadoran ambassador to the United States.
We understand the concern of the U.S. government about the issue of immigration. We are aware that the phenomenon is not a stranger to electoral considerations; however, we must not ignore the fact that children detained at the border have universal rights that should be given priority over the interests of an expedient solution, Rubén Zamora, the ambassador of El Salvador to the United States, wrote in a Miami Herald op-ed Thursday.
Children are entitled to receive special protection from our consulates, where we contact their family members, collaborate on reunification either in the United States and El Salvador and avoid re-victimization, he continued.
Vice President Joe Biden is meeting with Central American leaders Friday in Guatemala City, Guatemala, including the president of El Salvador, Sánchez Cerén, to discuss the ongoing crisis on the border. Many of the unaccompanied minors and family units are from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.
While the Obama administration has said they believe that much of the movement northward is due to poverty and violence in migrants Central American home countries, Republicans argue that it has been the Obama administrations failure to enforce immigration law and rumors about policies like Obamas Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals (DACA) that has served as an enticement.
Zamora explained El Salvador believes the main driver is family reunification in addition to criminal activity and lack of economic opportunities in parts of Central America....

El Salvador needs to learn more about... El Salvador. (Jesus)
Why not just fly um back home... parachute drop.
It is elevating “the liberation of poor” first, and foremost, all the time, and from the liberation of the poor all policies, programs, religious and institutional goals must flow.
IOW, the case could be made that it is a fine new term for Marxism.
How about Salvador respecting our damned borders...
The wicked WCC too.
I heard two holy folk on EWTN the other day go on about the Catholic version of WWJD regarding these kids. You can imagine what the gist of their idea was. I was thinking to call in and see if they thought the Pope would mind if the good folks at the Vatican City took in all these kids in to be raised in that country.
It sounds so attractive... but this is like a malignant caricature of actually liberating the poor. It’s pressing them into roles that are going to disappoint. Every single time.
I may freak if I hear that, One. More. Time.
However, it may actually be selling out there. Zombies have to be fed something, after all.
I was referring to their escape into Egypt...
Oops that would not fly very well!
This thing they are pressing the kids into is a horrible misdirection of Christian faith — in fact it is what the bible calls embracing a “form of religion” while “denying its power.” God has to be called upon to give the gift, and He is perfectly capable of giving the gift to them when they are right where they were, before they were sent on this fools errand.
If Catholic churches in El Salvador are really preaching to do this... GRR! God is MAD and for a good reason. Move over Karma... here comes the Savior.
Oops, yes... although it happened while Egypt was still in that same empire. And they got warned by God to do it (to get away from the murderous local governance in Judea) and they didn’t just squat in Egypt the rest of their lives.
It keeps the naive, the ignorant and the have nots looking over there, at “liberation”, and never looking over here to salvation first and last, regardless of poverty. The poor were many of Christ’s most fervent believers, and warnings He gave to the rich.
It is fertile gound for argument, but, class warfare advances tyranny as history proves. Tyranny is not a virtue, or among the fruits of the Spirit.
Could someone help me find where in the constitution these universal rights are enumerated?
We should empty our prisons of 25,000 of the most violent hispanic gang members we have and send ALL of them via ship to this jerks capital city. As they depart the ship we should give each one $1,000 in cash and a loaded 9 MM with 200 rounds of ammo. That should percolate things a bit.
The poor get blessed by believing. The rich could mean people who owned more than the social norm of earthly wealth, or those who were married to their wealth. The latter category of rich is the bad one.
Are they truly pushing liberation theology in the sense of almost idolizing the poor over there? That spells trouble. God won’t brook it.
That would be rude... but I confess, I chuckled at the proposal.
Nuke ‘em.
“Universal Rights”? Hmm....wonder what my “universal” rights are.
It’s all DIVERSION from truth, from tradition, designed wholly to collapse America and all she believes in, or used to believe in. Mass diversion on every issue, to call evil, good, and call good, evil.
Climb and Pivots tactics. Or, is that Clive and Pivens, or Bon and Jovi? Whatever they are called, it’s hand to hand combat now, on every issue.
LOL!
