Rand Paul: Ask Dick Cheney about Iraq War
POLITICO ^ | 6/20/14 | KENDALL BREITMAN

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) wants to turn the tables on those who are questioning President Barack Obama’s handling of the draw down of troops in Iraq.

In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” that will air Sunday, when host David Gregory asked Paul if he found former Vice President Dick Cheney to be a credible critic of the president, Paul responded “I think the same questions could be asked of those who supported the Iraq War. You know, were they right in their predictions? Were there weapons of mass destruction there? Was the war won in 2005, when many of those people said it was won?”

Paul’s response comes after Cheney and his daughter Liz published an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal criticizing the president for the ongoing conflict in Iraq where militants have begun to take over some of the country’s largest cities.

“Rarely has a U.S. president been so wrong about so much at the expense of so many,” the article said. “Too many times to count, Mr. Obama has told us he is ‘ending’ the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan — as though wishing [makes] it so.”

Instead of placing blame on the president, Paul suggested that blame for the unrest in the Middle East can be placed elsewhere.

“I don’t blame President Obama,” Paul said. “Has he really got the solution? Maybe there is no solution. But I do blame those who are for the Iraq War for emboldening Iran. These are the same people now who are petrified of what Iran may become, and I understand some of their worry”

Rand Paul: Ask Dick Cheney about Iraq War

Yup, Cheney has it all wrong is and is really the prince of darkness incognito.

Did you know that Dick Cheney actually used WMDs in Iraq as one of the justifications to go to war.

We all know that there were no WMDs in Iraq so when we said Bush lied, people died we have to include Cheney in there with him as well.

What, Al -Qaeda ISIS terrorist insurgents just seized Saddam’s Mega Chemical Weapons production facility filled with sealed bunkers brimming with WMDs ?

Yawn.......

Liberalism is truly a delusional mental disease. It is the root of most all our nation’s problems.

I didn’t mean Paul running, I meant your early support for him isn’t worth mentioning.

I defended him on many occasions on this site so I thought I would mention it.

He was my favorite about a year ago. He proved me wrong.

What ferry told Paul that the war was going to be over in 2005? President Bush himself said that this was a different war and it would take a long time. I’d never vote for that idiot.

And IMO you deserve props for that. If more people would just simply say “I hosed it. I was wrong” on a lot of these guys, we could get our act together around the good ones.

Of course we will disagree on things. We are all different. But the level of crap increases dramatically simply because many refuse to lose face. The thing is, no one loses face admitting a mistake. Only doubling down on’em.

Rand Paul didn’t just lose me with his comments about the Iraq War. That was the final straw. He’s been losing me with several things that he’s said over the last few months.

Everyone yearns so bad for a conservative to get elected we have a tendency to jump on someone’s band wagon before we’ve heard them play enough music.

I’ve heard enough music from Rand. He’s got the fat lady singing for him now.

Look at his two week binge of liberalism recently. Not a day went by. He has definitely earned the scorn.

Either people believe words mean things or not. If not, lets just elect liberals and save the trouble. If they do, lets not elect liberals and fight them without stopping.

That is one of the things that makes me crazy. Conservatives want their cake and want to eat it too. It cannot be that way. Otherwise we ARE liberals. Because that is Liberalism in a sentence.

Have you ever lived in the middle-east? Can you show me one solitary example of a successful democracy in the entire history of mankind in the middle-east?

Bush was out of his mind in invading Iraq trying to convert it to a western style democracy.

My first 20 years of life were spent surrounded by 150 million Muslims. I have seen first hand how influential Koran is in their lives. Even more than the bible is in life of Christians.

So we sacrificed 4500 lives of brave young soldiers and over 1500 Billion dollars in Iraq war. How was that a sane policy?

I never said it was a sane policy.

I just don’t believe in giving Obama a pass. He blundered big-time and it will cost us.

Bush was out of his mind in invading Iraq trying to convert it to a western style democracy.

Was that his goal? Do you have a source?

Was that really the choices, to let Hussein attain his goal to emerge as the religious and military leader of the unified Arab Muslims with weapons of mass destruction, or to turn them into a NATO like democracy?
