For Biden, Iraq crisis offers timely vindication (ye olde barfe alerte)

As Iraq edges toward chaos, Joe Biden is having a quiet I-told-you-so moment.

In 2006, Biden was a senator from Delaware gearing up for a presidential campaign when he proposed that Iraq be divided into three semi-independent regions for Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds. Follow his plan, he said, and U.S. troops could be out by early 2008. Ignore it, he warned, and Iraq would devolve into sectarian conflict that could destabilize the whole region.

The Bush administration chose to ignore Biden. Now, eight years later, the vice president’s doom-and-gloom prediction seems more than a little prescient. …

Yeah, the Obama administration has been in power for over 5 years. Biden is now #2 ( in more ways than one). Why, if this is the most obvious solution, hasn’t Biden pushed for it. Especially 2009-2011, when the Democrats controlled the presidency and Congress?

Not a comparison; just something that the AP is aspiring to.

This whole argument about Bush being to blame for the current state of Iraq is equivalent to destroying your home and then arguing that the prior homeowner is responsible because they agreed to sell you the home.

Two things:

1. “I proposed doing plan A. We did plan B. Plan B didn’t work. Therefore, plan A was correct.” is a logical fallacy.

2. Does Joe Biden really think there are hard and fast borders in Iraq where all the Shiites live on this side and all the Sunnis live on that side? There’s a lot of overlap. Any border that gets drawn will make people mad. Past attempts at dividing up countries based on ethnic and religious lines have usually led to violence. One million people died in India after the partition. Other examples include Israel and Yugoslavia.

Remember, Bush left Iraq relatively stable. It was improving every day. It was so stable that the MSM stopped reporting on it. The Obama comes in. He goal is chaos. He sets things in motion that results in our troops being pulled before everything in Iraq was complete. When it collapses they blame Bush when in reality it was Obama’s neglect that cause the collapse.

liberal simpletons don’t know what’s happened between India and Pakistan, about Kashmir, since the partition in 1947.

yes, Obama supports Sunni terrorists to topple Syria Assad. But Assad survives, those bloody Sunni militants turn to attack Iraq.

Didn't Biden also claim a stable Iraq would be this administration's greatest foreign policy achievement

The Sunni’s will never be happy short of wiping out all Shiites and Christians. Pretending that giving them 1/3 of Iraq is the answer is ludacris.

So this large terrorist force would not be marching across Iraq now because they would have halted at these border lines Biden wanted to draw?

Embarrassingly absurd article and analysis. Liberalism is a mental disorder - yet more evidence. Whether or not Biden’s proposal would have been a good idea has no bearing on the goals of the terrorists.
