American forces could be prosecuted by Iraqs famously compromised courts as they defend Baghdad. No wonder the Pentagon is so reluctant to send em.
President Obama pulled U.S. forces out of Iraq in 2011 because he couldnt get Iraqs parliament to offer U.S. soldiers immunity from Iraqi prosecution. But now Obama has promised to send in hundreds of special operations forces before securing even a simple promise that these soldiers will not be tried in Iraqs famously compromised courts for actions they are taking in defense of Baghdad.

Status of forces agreement should be in place prior to one boot touching Iraqi sand.
I hear all the fingers flipping in response to this thread.
President Obama pulled U.S. forces out of Iraq in 2011 because he couldnt get Iraqs parliament to offer U.S. soldiers immunity from Iraqi prosecution. That was the lie that the Obama admin put out there. In reality, they could have gotten this, but Maliki looked at the small number of troops Obama was going to leave behind, and decided the US was not serious.
Who is going to ensure that?
Kerry? Hagel? Dempsey? Obama?
Shinseki? McCain? Graham?
The article goes on for twenty paragraphs pretending to be investigative journalism.
It does manage to slip in that Hillary was in favor of keeping troops in when BO wanted them out
Hillary who loathes the military, as she stated, and acted, who left her diplomats to be slaughtered in country and demands that we ignore it, is the daily beasts excuse for an opposition to the next travesty
They think this last episode of Hillary laughing at the rape victim will make her supporters turn on her
She’s been making fun of rape victims since before she mocked Juanita broadderick
There’s no one there to take care of our troops nor diplomats nor advisors.
Now, if they were illegal aliens... Or rapists....
And the Shia militias have said they would attack them.
But Barry's going to send these brave men into harms way on a thankless task with no protections.
God be with them.
Yep, completely ignore in the debate over sending troops to get involved.
But they may be there just for embassy protection.
We should not have troops anywhere, period! At the risk of sounding like and isolationist we need to let the world set in its own funk. We need to penalize companies that offshore and tighten up tariffs. Stop immigration legal and not.
Yes, I guess I am becoming a protectionist, to hell with everyone else.
“What Difference Does It Make?”, he didn’t send any ammo with them anyway.
Bring those guys back home and stay the hell out of that 400 year old mess. Let them all kill each other and perhaps, just perhaps things will calm down for a year or two.
The Pentagon should Cloward-Piven themselves right out of this with all sorts of MOA and MOU requests from the Administration.
If I was in the military I’d be yelling “Hell no! I won’t go!”
It’s almost funny to watch Hopenchange Jesus fumble in the dark.
If any U.S. troop is allowed to be taken, then you can bet it’s going to kill moral in all the services.
There will be steep decline in people wanting to even join the military too.
