According to the US Dept of Justice, table 9, 53% of prisoners in state prisons were there for violent offenses, 16.8% for drug offenses. There is may be more turnover with the drug offenses.

There are about 12% as many federal as state prisoners sentenced.

I would have probably inserted the word 'disparate' before racial because the damn outcome has affected ALL of us who value sane government and common sense in some way.

Hey, if this is the nominal reason that gets them to shut down the WOD and roll back the infringements on our civil rights, I don’t mind a little political race baiting.

Nothing good has come from this failed drug prohibition we’ve engaged in. (unless your livelihood depends on it - on one side or the other)

As with everything when it comes to government: when something has shown itself to be a failure, they just double down and give us MORE of it. What’s even worse is we need to look no further back than about 100 years ago to see the road map to where this ends, and we refuse to learn a damn thing from the history which is there for all to see.
