In my exposure there are very few actual atheists who are live and let live with Christians. It’s the agnostics who are. Pretty fine line, there, I know. Agnostics don’t reject God, though. They just don’t know. Atheists believe themselves to know that there is no god.
Agnostics sometimes acknowledge the sadness of not being able to know God. That can be a path towards accepting salvation.
