No monkeying around: San Francisco warns Monkey app to stop auctioning off city parking spots

SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco's city attorney issued a cease-and-desist demand Monday to a mobile app called Monkey Parking, which allows people to auction public parking spaces that they're using to other nearby drivers.

I actually agree with the city on this one. Some schmuck drives into the city for the sole purpose of holding a public parking spot for “resale”!

That schmuck should have his car impounded with heavy towing fees and a month’s wait and a month’s parking charges to get his car back.

I agree

The only difference between one car following right after another leaves a space is it is; not happenstance.

Let me know when you're 5 minutes from pulling away and I'll give you a dollar, two dollar, whatever ... rebate.

If you’ve ever needed to park downtown or in a heavily congested area, that’s worth it. FReepers should love this market based response to government failure.

Libs are always playing up market “failures”. We need to recognize innovation in solving government failures. This is a good thing.
